MoiBA Lodge ( No ; 109 ) . —The members of this Lodge met on Tuesday , January 27 th , at the London Tavern , in Bishopsgate-street , under the presidency of the new Master , Bro . Fred . Slight , supported by Bros . Webster , S . W ., Hogg , P . M ., as J . W ., and several other members . Mr . Neale Home was initiated , and
Bros . Bichard Moss and Samuel Thomas Clarke were passed to the Second Degree . The working was , as might be expected , most excellent , and the indefatigable zeal of the W . M . promises a most successful year . There were some thirty-six Brethren present at the banquet , and among the visitors we noticed Bros . S . B . Wilson , P . M ., No . 147 ; Henry Hill , P . M ., No . 195 ; Y . W . Beale , P . M ., No . 202 ; J . Freeman , P . M ., No . 233 , & c .
Lodge of Faith ( No . 165 ) . —At the monthly meeting of this Lodge on the 30 th December , Bro . Couchman raised Bros . W . Odell , Gotham , and Pratt , to the 3 rd Degree . Lodge of Prudent ? Brethren" ( No . 169 ) . —The anniversary meeting of this Lodge was-celebrated at the Freemasons' Tavern on the 27 th January , when Bro . Blackburn was most impressively installed W . M . by Bro . Morbey , P . M ., to whom
a P . M . ' s Jewel was unanimously voted , for his great services to the Lodge , —ten Brethren having been initiated during his year of office . The officers were invested as follows : —Bros . Lea , S . W . ; C . Hart , J . W . ; Adams , Treas . ; Warren , Sec . ; Boyd , S . D . ; Wills , J . D . ; Hooper , I . G . ; E . Hart , Dir . of Oer . The Brethren afterwards dined together , and spent a very pleasant evening ; the musical arrangements being under the direction of Bro . Ed . Hart .
St . John ' s Lodge ( No . 196 ) . —A second Lodge of Emergency , during the vacation , was held at the Holly Bush Tavern , Hampstead , on the 13 th Jan ., Bros . B . Hazard , W . M ., in the chair ; W . Johnson , S . W . ; H . Cornick , J . W . ; Past Masters Aldrich , Shury , and Hamilton ; Stopher , Dawes , Giltro , and twenty other members ; visitors , Shenton P . M ., No . 40 ; -Isaacs , No . 712 . The Lodge having been opened , the minutes read , and Messrs . Clark and Turner balloted for for initiation , the W . M . said he felt himself too unwell to proceed with the
business of the evening ; he therefore requested Bro . P . M . Aldrich to take the chair . Bro . Aldrich having acceded to the request , Bros . Dawes and Gilbro were severally raised to the Sublime Degree of Master Masons . Bros . Caney and Eagle were severally passed to the 2 nd Degree ; and Messrs . Thomas B-onaldson and Edward Clarke initiated into the Order . Bro . Dawes was unanimously elected a joining member . The Lodge having been closed , the Brethren adjourned to tea and coffee . In the course of the evening the W . M . pro tern , introduced a beautiful
line engraving—proof , on India paper—of the Bight Hon . the Earl of Zetland as M . W . G . M ., executed by Bro . Shenton , to the notice of the Brethren , with the view that the Lodge should purchase a copy for their room . Bro . P . M . Hamilton said he should have much pleasure in moving that a copy be purchased ; firstly , in testimony of the high estimation the St . John ' s Lodge , No . 196 , entertained for their noble M . W . G . M . ; and secondly , that it was not only a most correct likeness of their M . W . G . M .. but it was a hiirhlv-executed work of art . After some further of their M . W . G . M . but it was a highly-executed work of art . After some further
, observations from the Brethren , highly eulogistic of the noble Earl , the resolution was seconded and carried unanimously ; and it was entrusted to Bro . Dearth , of St . Martin ' sdane , for framing . The W . M . pro tern , informed such of the Brethren present who were annual subscribers to the Masonic Magazine and Mirror that he had . received the last year ' s account from the proprietors , and lie should be happy to receive their respective amounts , which was responded to with great pleasure ; and several Brethren entered their names as new subscribers ; amongst others were
Bros . Stopher , Hamilton , and Caney . Bro . Aldrich would take that opportunity to observe that several of the subscribers had complained to him of the non-delivery , at times , of the Magazine ; when that had been the case , he had written to the Office , and he believed that a copy was sent to the individual immediately . ( Hear , hear , from several Brethren . ) Such had been his own case , lie mentioned this matter , lest Brethren might think that the fault rested with the publishers ; which , however , was not the fact ; but the fault rested with the Post-office , for which the publishers were not responsible . Another motive for mentioning the subject was that in future , on failure of the Magazine at anytime , he would advise
