of unusual interest . Bro . S . B . Wilson , jun ., having been unanimously elected W . M ., was duly installed in the chair of King Solomon by his lather , Bro . Stephen Barton Wilson , so well-known in Masonry , and so highly respected everywhere . It would be quite superfluous to add one word in praise of the manner in which the ceremony was performed , Bro . Wilson ' s reputation being so firmly and universally established . Before adjourning to refreshment the W . M .

made the following appointments to office : —Bros . Saynor , S . W . ; Williams , J . W . ; Buhner , Treas . ; Nicholson , Sec . ; Gillatt , S . D . ; Pearson , J . D . ; W . J . Nesham , I . G . The banquet was excellent in every respect , and was attended by about twenty Brethren , who , vying with each other in promoting general happiness , realized an evening of unalloyed enjoyment . The visitors were , Bros . John Hervey , P . G . S . D . ; S . B . Wilson , P . M . No . 147 , & c . & c . ; L . Artus , P . M . No . 40 ; Taylor , No . 18 ; and Cross , No . 66 .

Lodge of Peace and Hakmony ( No . 72 ) . —The installation of Bro . Penny as W . M . for the year ensuing , took place on Thursday , 22 nd January , the ceremony being performed by Bro . W . Young , a member of the Lodge , and P . M . of No . 11 . Bro . Penny has already enjoyed the honour of the W . M . ' s chair in another Lodge , and consequently the ceremony was deprived of much of its attractiveness . The Officers appointed and invested by the W . M . are Bros . W . Young , P . M . No . 11 , S . W . ; Moore , J . W . ; J > N . Tomkins , P . G . S . B . and P . M ., Treas . ; Kennedy ,

P . M . No . 201 , Sec . ; Thomas , S . D . ; I . Levinson , W . M . No . 7 , J . D . ; and Parker , I . G . Thirteen sat down to a very elegant dinner , and the evening was spent most agreeably . The visitors were Bros . Hop wood , P . M ., No . 7 ; Wm . Paas , W . M ., No . 30 , and P . Binckes , P . M ., No . 11 . We should add that Bro . Penny , W . M ., was unanimously elected G . Steward for 1857—8 , and that a P . M . ' s jewel was voted to the retiring Master , Bro . Long , whose absence was much regretted .

St . Mart ' s Lodge ( No . 76 ) . —This Lodge held its monthly meeting on the 15 th January , when Bro . Dr . Lawrence was ably installed W . M . by Bro . Burton , P . M . At the conclusion of the business the Brethren , to the number of twenty-five , dined together and spent a very happy evening .

Grenadier Lodge ( No . 79 ) . —At the meeting of this Lodge on the 22 nd January , Bro . Johnson , W . M ., presiding , a Brother was passed to the 2 nd Degree . The J . W was elected W . M . for the ensuing year , and Bro . Neate re-elected Treasurer .

Mount Lebanon Lodge ( No . 87 ) . —At the last regular meeting of this excellent Lodge , on the 20 th January , Bro . H . Gregory , W . M ., in the chair , there was rather more than an average attendance of the Brethren , in consequence of the installation . Bro . E . Harris , P . M ., took the chair , and proceeded with the installation of Bro . E . Smith , the W . M . elect . In performing the ancient and interesting ceremony , the worthy P . M . displayed great ability , as well as Masonic skill . Being installed , Bro . Smith assigned the offices as follows : —Bros . Pogwell , S . W . ; Donkin , J . W . ; Davies , P . M ., Treas . ; Harris , P . M ., Sec . ; F . Walters , S . D . ; Copley , J . D . ; King , I . G . The disposition of offices being complete , at the closing of the Lodge , Bro . Davies , P . M ., in a very neat address , presented the

retiring W . M . with a P . M . a jewel and a handsome silver cream-jug , which was subscribed for him by the members of the Lodge . Bro . Gregory , in an appropriate speech , returned his thanks to the Lodge . At the conclusion of Masonic business , upwards of forty Brethren joined the festive board , and spent a very pleasant evening . Visitors : Bros . Grew , P . M ., No . 1 ; Barrett , No . 212 ; Muggeridge , P . M ., No . 227 , & c .

Lodge of Beotj lakity ( No . 108 ) . —This Lodge met at the Freemasons' Tavern , Thursday , 8 th January . The W . M . and his Officers raised one Brother to the Sublime Degree of a Master Mason , and initiated a gentleman into the mysteries of the Order . Bro . Grosjean was unanimously elected W . M . for the ensuing year , and Bro . M'Galium , Treasurer . The visitors were Bro . Crohn , II , G . L . Hamburgh ; JXerz , No . 116 ; Wents , No . 280 .
