when the W . M . ( J . E . Green ) initiated Mr . Geo . Kussell and Mr . Theodore Bates into the mysteries of the Order . Bro . P . M . Foster White , the respected Treasurer of the Lodge , then most effectively and impressively installed Bro . P . W . Sparkes into the chair for the ensuing year . The W . M . appointed his Officers as follows : —Bros . J . Watson , S . W . ; C . Hawkins , J . W . ; P . Fowler , S . D . ; W . J . Brown , J . D . ; F . Hast , I . G . ; T . S . Barringer , Sec ; and Foster

White , Treas . The W . M ., on behalf of the Lodge , presented Bro . P . M . Green with a very neat and handsome jewel for his services in the chair the past year , which was briefly and appropriately acknowledged . A vote of thanks was also passed to Bro . Foster White for the presentation to the Lodge of two prints of Lord Zetland and Lord Yarborough in costly frames . The Brethren then retired to the banquet-hall , where the new host of the tavern , Bro . Clarke ( late of the Heindeer , Doncaster ) , displayed a recherche repast , accompanied with the

seldomto-be-found boon , " . first-rate- wines . " The W . M . ably presided , supported oil his right by the immediate P . M ., and the good , kind-hearted , and esteemed Father of the Lodge , Bro . Leonard Chandler ( whom we were delighted to see restored to health after his long and serious illness ); and on his left by Dr . G . P . Eowe , P . D . P . G . M . for Essex , as well as the following visitors : —Bros . W . Johnson , P . M .

No . 14 ; W . Farnfield , Asst . G . Sec . ; Frederic Ledger , P . M . No . 11 ; & c . As usual at these meetings , a delightful evening was passed , the vocal aid of Bros . Lender , D . King , W . Cooper , and Barn by , adding not a little to the pleasant result .

Jordan Lodge ( No . 237 ) . —The Installation meeting of this Lodge was held at the Freemasons'Tavern , on Friday , January 16 , when Bro . Spooner , P . M ., passed Bro . Hurst to the 2 nd Degree . Bro . Arliss was next duly and admirably installed as W . M . by Bro . P . M . Spooner , who delivered the various addresses with great effect . The new W . M . invested his Officers as follows : —Bros . Bowman , S . W . ; Watts , J . W . ; Robinson , S . D . ; Laughton , J . D . ; Trail , I . G . ; Scambler , P . M ., Treas . ; Patten , P . M ., P . G . Sword-bearer , Sec . ; Dawes , Tyler . The W . M . then initiated Mr . J . Collins into the Order . At the conclusion of the

business the Brethren adjourned to a very recitercite dinner , most admirably served . Amongst the visitors present were—Bros . H . G . Warren , Grand Steward's Lodge , and P . M . No . 202 ; Burton , W . M . No . 202 ; Collard , P . M . No . 209 ; Gira , ud , Lodge Esperance , Berne , Switzerland . At the conclusion of the banquet the usual loyal and Masonic toasts were drunk , the name of Bro . Patten , P . G . Swordbearer ( the respected Secretary of the Lodge ) , being coupled with that of the

present and past G . Officers . In acknowledging the compliment , Bro . Patten said he was something like the Masonic Mirror , he only came before them once a month . On the present occasion , however , he should be more like the Annual Register , as he was about to take a slight retrospect of the past—a practice of his once a year . It was thirty-two years since he was initiated into Masonry in this Lodge—their old friend Bro . Dawes being then , as he still was , its Tyler—twentyeight years since he was the Master of the Lodge , and for twenty-seven years he

had had the jdeasure of acting as their Secretary . He had always had the interest of the Lodge at heart , and during the first ten years of his Masonic career he had only missed attending the Lodge once—in the next twelve years he was absent once—and during the last ten years twice , so that in the whole period he had been absent four times—and he had never once entered the Lodge after it was opened . He trusted the younger Brethren would follow his example , and endeavour to do better than he had done . He was obliged to them for

their great kindness towards him , and trusted he might live many years more to witness the continued prosperity of the Jordan Lodge . Bro . P . M . Young proposed the health of the W . M ., who returned thanks and assured the Brethren that the great object of his life was to endeavour to promote the prosperity of Preemasonry . The healths of the newly-initiated Brother and the P . Ms , having been drunk , the W . M . gave "The Visitors , " which was briefly acknowledged by Bros . Burton and Warren , the latter thanking the Brethren for many lurid
