observations with regard to the Freemasons' Magazine . The health of the Treasurer was then given , and acknowledged by Bro . Scambler . On the toast of the Officers heing drunk , Bro . Dr . Bowman returned thanks and expressed the great gratification he felt at being an Officer of the Jordan Lodge . He also took

the opportunity of stating that he felt the Craft were under deep obligations to the Freemasons' Magazine for the independence with which it fought the battles of the Order , and that it was well worthy of the patronage of the Brethren . Some other toasts were drunk , and Bro . Bobinson , having referred to the great advantages he and other Officers had derived from the Jordan Lodge of Instruction held at the house of Bro . Sheen , the Brethren separated , in perfect harmony .

Lodge op Israel ( No . 247 ) . —At the annual meeting of this Lodge , held at Saed ' s Hotel , Finsbury , on the 13 th of January , the W . M ., Bro . Henry Isaacs , initiated into the Order Messrs . Pernandiz , H . A . Abrahams , J . Solomons , H . Davis , and H . Mendoza . He afterwards most impressively installed his brother into the chair . A magnificent P . M . ' s Jewel , of the value of £ 35 , having been

presented to the retiring W . M ., and the business brought to a close , the Brethren to the number of about eighty adjourned to dinner : there being among the visitors , D . Swaebe , No . 227 ; S . A . Hart , No . 218 ; A . J . Isaacs , late No . 247 ; D . Marks , No . 223 ; Dr . Straube , P . M ., No . 257 ; Wyatt , P . M ., No . 156 ; Yanderlyn , P . M ., 223 ; Alexander , M ., No . 223 ; Lazaras , No . 223 ; D . Davis , No . 218 . Some excellent singing enlivened the proceedings of the evening .

St . Andbew ' s Lodge ( No . 281 ) . —At the monthly meeting of this Lodge on the 1 st January , Bro . Mills , P . M ., presided , in the absence of Bro . Dr . Paul , and passed Bro . Hughes and raised Bro . Price to their respective degrees . Bro . Pierce Egan was elected W . M ., and Bro . Sarburg , Treasurer . Lodge oe Habmony ( No . 317 ) . —The day fixed for the installation of the new W . M . was Tuesday the 20 th of January , and the Brethren accordingly met at the appointed time at the Greyhound Hotel , Richmond . The W . M . elect , Bro . the

Rev . Wentworth Bowyer , was however too ill to attend , and the installation and appointment of Officers was consequently postponed . Amongst those present were the E . W . Bros . Bowyer , Prov . G . M . of Oxford ; Lieut .-Col . George "Vernon , Prov . G . M . of Staffordshire ; Dr . Kent , Prov . G-. M . of South Australia ; the B . W . Bro . Hyde Pullen , D . Prov . G . M . of Isle of Wight ; Matthew Dawes , etc . Prior to the W . M . ' s arrival , Mr . Campbell Clark was initiated by Bro . J . A . D . Cox , P . M . The Brethren adjourned to banquet , under the presidency of Bro . Harrison Chilcott , the W . M .

Prince of Wales' Lodge ( No . 324 ) . —At the regular meeting of this Lodge , held at the Thatched House Tavern , St . James ' s-street , on Tuesday , the 27 th of January , Ero . Atty , W . M ., a ballot was taken for the W . M . for the year ensuing ; and Bro . Bobert Warner Wheeler was unanimously elected to that distinguished office : Bro . Nelson , P . G . D ., was re-elected Treasurer . Polish National Lodge ( No . 778 ) . —The usual monthly meeting was held at the Breemasons' Tavern on 8 th January , when Bro . E . Johnstone , W . M ., presided .

The business consisted of two raisings and one initiation , Mr . Peter George Harris ottering himself as a candidate , and was duly accepted . The ceremonies were efficiently performed , the Brethren , at their conclusion , retiring to banquet . The evening was spent very agreeably , and much to the delight of all assembled . Bro . P . Binckes , W . M ., No . 11 , was the only visitor . The members and visitors of this Lodge arc under great obligations to Bro . Michalski , whose humorous musical abilities contribute so greatly to their entertainment .

Ya"RBOU 0 UGH Lodge ( No . 812 ) . —The annual Installation festival of this thriving Lodge was held at the George Hotel , Commercial-road East , on Thursday , the 1 st of January . The Lodge was opened at four p . m . by Bro . William Vesper , the W . M . A resolution was unanimously adopted to present the W . M . a testimonial to the value of live guineas . The W . M . being very unwell , then requested Bro . Wynn , P . M ., to take the chair , and Bro . Middleton , who was a candidate for passing , was questioned and afterwards duly passed , Bro . Thomas Vesper
