Bros . Cossens , S . W . ; Cave , J . W . ; Wheeler , S . D . ; Keep , J . D . ; Welsh , I . G . We are happy to find that this Lodge is likely to become very flourishing under the management of the present W . M . Amongst the members who have recently joined it we may mention the Earl of Carnarvon , S . W ., No . 10 , and Bro . Bussey , B . M ., No . 318 . The business of the day concluded with an elegant banquet provided by Bro . Cossens .

CAMBBIDGESHIBE . CAMBEiuaE . —Scientific Lodge ( No . 105 ) . —The usual meeting of the above most flourishing Lodge was held on the 12 th ult ., for the purpose of installing the new W . M ., Bro . the Bev . A . R . Ward , M . A ., St . John ' s College , who had been appointed to that office at the previous meeting , for the third time in four years . Additional interest was also felt from the fact of the Brov . G . M . having appointed Bro . Ward as D . Brov . G . M . in the place of the late Bro . H . F . Rowe . Accordingly a very large muster of the Brethren took place . The chair was filled by Bro . Wentworth , and previously to the new D . Prov . G . M . being introduced , his warrant of appointment was read in open Lodge to the assembled Brethren .

About one o ' clock Bro . Ward was announced , and a deputation came out to meet him , and the usual procession having been formed , he was duly received with full Masonic honours , in the different degrees , by the assembled Brethren . Having taken his seat , he spoke as follows : —" W . M ., and Brethren of the Scientific Lodge of ancient , free , and accepted Masons , —On the first occasion of my visiting you as the D . Brov . G . M . of this province , I would thank you most sincerely for the very kind manner in which you have received me . The post which I now occupy was , on the lamented death of our esteemed friend Bro . Rowe , offered to P . M .

Baxter . I myself personally waited on that Brother , and tried to induce him to accept the same , but in vain . Our Brov . G . M . then offered it to me , and I have accepted it , with every intention of performing the duties of that office to the best of my ability . Towards the brethren of this Scientific Lodge I must always feel every sentiment of gratitude and affection . It is the Lodge in which I was initiated , in which I have filled many offices—twice that of Master—and you have again shown 3 'our confidence in me by electing me to the chair again . But I must not forget that there are ' other sheep not of this fold , ' other Lodges which equally

I am bound to look after . I hope , however , that whenever I may be called upon , I may act with justice and impartiality towards all . Lastly , Brethren , I hope you will understand the difference between my visiting you in my public capacity of D . Brov . G . M . of this province , and in my private one as a member of this Lodge . Occasionally I hope to visit you in the former capacity , often , I trust , in the latter . Brethren , one and all , I thank you . " Bro . Ward then vacated the chair , and the procession having been re-formed , he quitted the Lodge amidst the applause of the Brethren ; the proceedings throughout having been of a most

interesting nature . Shortly afterwards , Bro . Ward returned into the Lodge , and other business being concluded , was presented to the Installing Master as the Brother on whom the choice of the Brethren had fallen as W . M . for the year ensuing . The installing work was performed most beautifully by Bro . Baxter , B . M . B . Z . On the re-admission of the Brethren , the W . M . proceeded to elect his Officers for the year ensuing , as follows : —Bro . Gully ( fellow of King ' s Coll . ) S . W . ; Westmorland ( fellow of Jesus Coll . ) J . W . ; F . B . Hall , S . D . : ; A . Moyse , J . D .

C . Naylor , I . G . ; T . Bcntley , B . M ., M . C . ; W . Crisp , P . M ., Steward ; T . Rowe , P . M ., Chap . ; II . Smith , Sec . After which the Brethren adjourned , and at five o ' clock sat down to a sumptuous dinner , provided by Bro . Moyse , "Mine Host of ye Lion . " The usual toasts were given , and it was not till a late hour that the Brethren separated , having enjoyed their refreshment all the more from the great quantity of "labour ' they had previously gone through .
