He expressed a belief that the Brother who was selected as Inner Guard had talents which would insure his

M . of the youngest Lodge , officers of Lodges in numbers , and many of the other Brethren in Lodges who had not yet attained office . He also expressed , on behalf of the Lodge , a wish to see the meetings frequently attended by visitors .

The toast was responded to by Bros . Musgrave , W . M ., No . 41 ; Bromley , No . 436 ; Wright , No . 170 , and others . The host , "Bro . Brandwood " was proposed in eloquent terms by Bro . Bawden , J . D ., and responded to by Bro . Brandwood in a most feeling manner . After which the last toast was given from , the chair ; "To all Boor and Bistressed Masons around the globe , and a speedy relief to them . " The proceedings closed at about ten o ' clock .. . , .

Saint John ' s Lodge ( No . 436 ) . —The festival of St . John the Evangelist was celebrated at the Three Tuns Inn , Bolton , on Saturday , the 27 th day of December , 1856 . The Brethren assembled at two o ' clock , when , on confirmation of the minutes of the last regjgjar meeting , Bro . John Bromley , S . W ., was duly installed W . M . for the ensuing year . The following Brethren were appointed Officers , viz ., Thomas , S . W . ; Thomas Higson , J . W . ; Hugh Jones , S . D . ; J . Brandwood , J . D . ; James Barlow , I . G . ; Henry Knight , Tyler ; Thomas Eorster , Sec . ; Bro .

Hayhursh was appointed Treas ., and Bro . Redick reinstated as Dir . of Cers . Dinner was provided at five o ' clock . About twenty-five of the Brethren sat down to a sumptuous repast , which did great credit to the worthy hostess Mrs . Tellers . The proceedings were characterized by great harmony , and were protracted to a late hour . Amongst the visitors we observed Bro . John Musgrave , W . M . of Lodge No . 44 , who gave the members a general invitation to attend the festival of St . John , at his Lodge , in the early part of the ensuing month .

Bolton-le-Moors . — -Lodge of Antic [ ibity ( No . 170 ) . —The Brethren of this Lodge assembled at the One Horse-shoe Inn , Market-square , on Wednesday , the 14 th Jan ., to celebrate the Festival of St . John the Evangelist . The Lodge was opened in form , at 4 p . m ., by Bro . Beuben Mitchell , W . M ., when the minutes of the last regular Lodge meeting were read and confirmed ; after which , Bro . John Tunnah , Brov . G . S . for East Lancashire , proceeded to install Bro . James

Bay thorp , the W . M . elect , in his usual efficient and impressive manner . After the ceremony had been concluded , the W . M . appointed the following Brethren Officers of the Lodge for the ensuing year ; namely , Bro . Thomas Edge , S . W . ; Bro . Thomas Heaton , J . W . ; Bro . John S . Scowcroft , Secretary ; Bro . James Johnson , S . D . ; Bro . Peter Charlton , J . D . ; Bro . W . H . Wright , P . M ., Master of Ceremonies . Bro . Bhineas Hall was duly elected Treasurer ; Bro . William

Dawson , Tyler ; and Bro . Henry Wright , Assistant Tyler . The visiting Brethren present on the occasion were , Bros . Tunnah , Brov . G . S . of East Lancashire ; Sinclair , M . A . ; Pollett , Brov . G . Beg ., Manchester ; Eishwick , P . M . ; together with other Brethren from Bury , and also from Lodges Nos . 44 , 268 , and 436 , of

this town . The Lodge passed from labour to refreshment at 6 * 30 P . M ., when the Brethren were regaled with " an excellent banquet , prepared by Bro . William Sharp . After the cloth was removed , the usual loyal toasts followed , of which the first were , " The Queen ; " "Prince Albert , Albert Prince of Wales , and the rest of the Boyal Family ; " "The Bight Honourable the Earl of Zetland , Grand Master of England ; " " The Bight Honourable ) the Earl of Yarhorough , Deputy
