Provincial.

Grand Master of England ; " " Stephen Blair , Esq ., Bight Worshipful Provincial Grand Master of East Lancashire . " Bro . W . H . Wright , P . M . and B . C ., of this Lodge , in proposing this toast , observed that little need be said in praise of Bro . Blair : his deeds as a Freemason had earned for him most deserved laurels . His unceasing exertions for the welfare and benefit of the Craft of the Province of East Lancashire were most exemplary and praiseworthy . His distinguished

character as a Freemason , as well as that of a gentleman , rendered him worthy of his high position in every respect . ic Albert H . Boyds , Bight Worshipful Provincial Deputy Grand Master of East Lancashire , " was proposed by Bro . Edge , S . W . "the Provincial G-rand Officers of East Lancashire , past and present , " was proposed by Bro . B . Mitchell , P . M . He said that it gave him great pleasure to propose the toast , inasmuch as the able services rendered by those Officers were obvious to every member of the Craft who was at all acquainted with their exertions , especially in reference to the establishment of a Benevolent and Annuity

Fund for the Brovince of East Lancashire , which institution was the fruit of their untiring exertions . He alluded most particularly to Bros . Tunnah and Pollitt , who had been so eminently unremitting in their exertions in the promotion of the charity , which he conceived would reflect a great and lasting credit upon them , as well as all the Provincial Officers , both past and present , who had laboured so assiduously to promote the admirable object they had in view . Bro . Pollitt responded in a brief but eloquent speech , in which he observed that , at all the various Lodges he had visited , he had availed himself of the opportunities thus afforded of forwarding

the interest of the charity as much as he possibly could , as the benefits ' to be derived from it would doubtless be very considerable ; and he therefore called upon the Lodges in the province generally to support this excellent charity . "The W . M . of the Lodge " was then proposed by Bro . Mitchell , B . M ., who , in proposing the health of Bro . Baythorp , the newly-elected W . M ., observed that he could truly state that he had well earned the honourable position he had attained , as W . M . of the Lodge , and which he had now the honour to enjoy , having , by dint of great exertions and constant perseverance in the Lodge , together with regular

attendance at the Lodge of Instruction , prepared himself for it . The W . M . acknowledged the toast , assuring the Brethren of the Lodge that the honour conferred upon him would at all times be appreciated , and cordially thanked his Brethren for placing him in the distinguished position of their W . M . He would do his best during his term of office for the welfare of the Lodge , and at all times exert the utmost of his abilities to promote the general good of the Lodge , and of the Craft in general . Bro . Peter Charlton , J . D ., then proposed iC The Yisiting Brethren , " and was happy to have the opportunity of doing so , for he

could assure the Brethren that they were always received in the most welcome manner , and with that right good feeling which ought to pervade every Lodge of Masons , believing as he did that the cause of Freemasonry was at all times greatly advanced by members of the various Lodges visiting each other . Several of the Brethren responded in a truly Masonic spirit , and the utmost good feeling animated the whole . " The Immediate P . M . " was next proposed by Bro . W . H . Wright , P . M . and B . C ., who recapitulated the many valuable services rendered to the Lodge by the worthy Brother lie had the pleasure of introducing to their notice ,

which were both known and appreciated hy all the Brethren ; and no better proof could be afforded of his devoted attention to the Lodge than his continued exertions to promote the good cause of Masonry . Bro . Mitchell responded in a short but feeling speech . " Success to the Lodge of Antiquity—ISTo . 170 , " was the next toast , which was proposed by Bro . Tunnah , Brov . G . S . of the province , who , in eloquent and forcible terms , eulogized the character of Bro . W . 11 . Wright , B . M ' . and M " . ( J . ; and , in coupling him with the toast , expatiated at considerable length upon bis groat and persevering exertions in raising the

Lodge ( which was now one of the iirst in the province ) from comparative obscurity and insignificance to the highest pinnacle of prosperity . Bro . W . 11 . Wright responded to the toast in a neat and feeling speech , after which the Lodge passed from refreshment to labour , and was shortly closed in due form . The last toast was soon afterwards proposed , and the Brethren retired , much gratified with the proceedings of the evening .
