ANDREAV ' S CHAPEL , August 20 th— -The ceremony of laying the first stone of this chapel took place on Thursday , and as the ei'ent had been announced nearly for a Aveek , the preparations for giving to the proceedings a character of the most interesting nature , had been made in a very efficient manner . We gave in our last a description of a similar ceremony at Christ ' s Church , in BoAV-lane , on the Thursday previous , and as in that instance some very deserved
complimentary expressions were paid to the Brethren of Lodge University , 1 ' 30 , ancl others of the " mystic tie , " in the town , the Craft in the Lodge just named determined to evince their acknoAvledgments by providing against the day for the present Aveek ' s ceremony , a neAV and very splendid silk flag . Accordingly one of a large size was immediately subscribed for by the Brethren , of a rich purple colour , having a A'ery handsome crimson border , and placed in the hands of Mr . Walmsley , painter , one of ivhose talented workmen has produced one of
the most splendidly embellished flags ever unfurled in any ot our gayest processions . One one side are the Royal Arms , surmounted by the follow letters , I T N O T G A O T U ; the import of which concerns not the popular world , but Avhich is with all reverence and humility , highly esteemed and justly appreciated by masons ; and under are some emblematic devices Avhich illustrate their peculiar system of morality .
