Hugh Doherty , Minister of the Bemonstrant Congregation of Ballyhemlin , having been requested by the Master , Wardens , and Brethren of the Ballyhaibert Lodge , to preach on the occasion , selected for his text , 1 John , iv . 7 . —" Beloved , letuskwe one another , for love is of God ,
and every one that loveth is bom of God , and knoAveth God . " The Preacher commenced by stating his reasons for complying Avith the request of the Brethren ; these Avere , 1 st , the liberality of their princip les : he knew that they admitted men of all religious opinions . 2 d , their laudable custom of assisting one another in distress . 3 d , that Mr . Sinclair , the venerable Minister of Glastry , Avhose steps he desired to follow , had never refused to preach on such occasions .
