the morality inculcated by its ceremonies and lectures , the preacher expressed his regret that any inequalities in the conduct of individual Freemasons should ever bring discredit on the Society . He urged , therefore , on them the duty of being circumspect aud cautious in their conduct , that "their good might not be evil spoken of ; " and of proving , by the effect upon their own actions , that Freemasonry is more than a name . Particularly he warned them on such an occasion as the
present , " not to use their liberty as a cloak" for intemperance or excess .
