STAR OF BRUNSAVICK , STONEIIOUSE ( NO . 185 ) . —The members of this Lodge held their monthly meeting at St . George ' s Hall , having removed from Devonport on the 7 th of March . Br . P . E . Rowe , P . M ., P . P . G . D . C . for Devon , initiated a gentleman into tho mystic art in his usual style . The Lodge closed at 10 o ' clock in peace ancl harmony and good fellowship .

GEORGE ' HALL , STONEHOUSE ( No . 224 ) , removed from the tho Royal Hotel , Plymouth . —The members of this Corinthian Lodge held an emergency meeting on Friday , the 9 th of March , AA'hen Br . Tripe , P . M ., P . P . G-R . for Devon , & c , A'ery ably initiated Lieut . Pim into the Order . This is a gentleman of whom all the world has heard ; one of those brave men sent in quest of Sir John Franklin and companions . There AA'as a very large muster of friends and brothers to do honour to the initiate , upAvards of 40 being present . On the
candidate ' s health being proposed at the refreshment table , he made a most interesting statement of his travels in the Arctic Regions-LODGE OF FRIENDSHIP , DEVONPORT ( NO . 238 ) . —Tho members of this exceedingly well worked Lodge met at the Lord Hood , when the AV . M . presided at a Lodge of emergency , and most ably initiated and passed tAvo brethren- This , although his first attempt , Avas so successful as to cause the visitors AA'ho Avere present to Avish that the W . M . ' s of other Lodges would visit this—take a lesson and profit by it . The
regular Lodge AV ? . S held on the 22 nd of February , when the W . M ., Br . Richards , raised a brother to tho sublime degree of M . M . in such an impressive manner , as induced the visitors to tender then * congratulations to one , AA'ho , though so young a member of the Craft , has shewn such proficiency . The brethren were then called from labour to refreshment , and passed a very pleasant evening .

LODGE OF INDUSTRY , GATESHEAD ( NO . 56 ) . —The Ball . —On Thursday evening , the Sth of March , a ball took p lace in the lodge-room of the brethren , at the Queen ' s Head Hotel , Gateshead . The Stewards , Brs . AVm . Morrow , W . M . ; E . D . Davis , P . M . ; F . P . Tonn , P . M . ; H . L . Monro , P . M . ; D . Robson ; T . Andrews , and AV . E . Wilkinson , had been looked upon as a guarantee of a really pleasant ball , and ,
as Avas anticipated , it Avent off with great eclat . The Mayor of Gateshead , R . W . Hodgson , Esq ., AVIIO wore the insignia of his office , and Mrs . T . Andrews , opened the ball . The rank , fashion and beauty of the sister counties , Durham and Northumberland , assembled on the occasion ; tlie beautiful and artistic decorations of the room , and the magnificent dresses of the lovely daughters of the North , rendered the scene a brilliant one ; happiness AA'as in every countenance;—" Husio arose with its voluptuous swell
, Soft eyes looked love to eyes which spake again , And all went merry as a marriage bell !" The graceful AA'altz and light quadrille Avese kept up with unabated spirit until an early hour in the morning . Brs . 11 . L . Monro , P . M ., and D . Robson , as Masters of the Ceremonies , performed their duties to universal satisfaction . The refreshments , Avhich were provided by the much-respected hostess , Miss Murray , comprised delicacies to please the most fastidious taste . AA e understand that , in consequence of the great
satisfaction expressed by all , the ball is likely to become an annual one . On Monday , the 26 th March , the Brethren of this Lodge assembled in their Lodge-room , at the Queen ' s Head Hotel , Gateshead , for the installation of Br . AVm . Morrow , the AV .
