About eighty of the Brethren , after leaving the Lodge-room , partook of a wellserved dinner at the Fortescue Arms . The R . W . the Prov . Grand Master being unable to remain for the banquet , the R . W . the D . Prov . G . M ., the Rev . John Huyshe , presided , supported by the V . W . Bro . Bremridge , as Vice-president . On the removal of the cloth , the proper Masonic toasts were duly honoured , and some good speeches were delivered . Bro . Edwards , the Prov . G . Organist , and
some other Brethren contributed to the harmony of the occasion some excellent instrumental and vocal music . The Earl of Fortescue , although precluded from attending the banquet , very kindly had some prime venison placed on the table . The approach of train-time led to dispersion of the party at an early hour . The meeting throughout was characterized by feeling , brotherly love , and a cordiality as pleasing as appropriate .
JERSEY . St . Heliek ' s . — Royal Sussex Lodge ( No . 722 ) . —At the monthly meeting of this Lodge , held on the 11 th September , at the Masonic Hall , Bro . William Adams , W . M ., the attendance of visitors was very numerous ; amongst them were the Right Hon . the Earl of Yarborough , D . G . M ., who expressed himself much gratified at witnessing the passing of a Brother into the 2 nd Degree , and at the cordial reception he met with from the W . M . and the Brethren of the
Lodge : as a memento of his visit he begged the members of the Lodge would allow him to send a copy of the newly-published engraving of the portrait of the M . W . G . M . the Earl of Zetland , * which he trusted they would accept ; he also very forcibly addressed them on < behalf of the various Masonic charities , and strongly urged the Brethren present to use their influence in advocating the
cause of these charitable institutions in their different Lodges , by subscribing to them individually as well as collectively . The D . G . M . then retired with the hearty good wishes of the Brethren , and as a proof of his practising what he professes and recommends , he left a liberal donation previous to his retiring from the Lodge , to be divided amongst the five Lodges in this island , towards their charitable funds .
A notice of motion was made by the W . M ., that the Right Hon . the Earl of Yarborough , D . G . M ., be enrolled amongst the honorary members of this Lodge , which was seconded and carried by acclamation . We subjoin a list of visitors on this interesting occasion ; amongst them were some London Brethren , who , with the other visitors , expressed themselves much gratified at the proceedings . Bros .
