WOBCESTERSHIBE .

PEOVINCIAL GBAITD LODGE . Dudley . —The Prov . Grand Lodge was held in Dudley , on the 9 th of September , pursuant to notice , when the customary investiture of officers , & c .

took place , a list of which we are unable to give , our correspondent not deeming it worth while to run the risk of " expulsion from the Order , " with which , it seems , he was threatened by the Prov . Grand Master . After the ordinary business was transacted , the Prov . Grand Master alluded to a circumstance of which he had made a memorandum , that of " reporting to the Freemasons' Magazine , " a practice which prevailed largely in his province ; and the very un-Masonic manner in which it was conducted he could not but

condemn . He censured the Brother , whoever he might be , who so far forgot himself as to pen those paragraphs disclosing matters prohibited by the Book of Constitutions , and also the editor of that publication for receiving and adopting them as lie had done . If a Brother had forgotten himself so far as to send up information which was known to be un-Masonic , the editor should have corrected that Brother , and not supported him in his wrong doing . If such a course were repeated , he stated , he should take notice of it in a way very different to the present , feeling it his duty to carry out the clause relating to it in the Book of

Constitutions . We will merely add , that the Brethren afterwards proceeded to church , and thence back to the Old Town Hall , when , Lodge being closed , they adjourned to banquet , at which some good speeches were made , especially by Bro . Sir E . A . H . Lechmere , the D . Prov . G . M ., respecting the new Lodge just established in Dudley , the better to carry out the true principles of Masonry—a Lodge which our offending Brother was the honoured means of promoting and bringing to a successful issue , and who , this month , in deference to the will of the Prov . G-. M ., whether right or wrong , follows out the motto : —

" Audi , vide , tace . " The ceremony of the installation of the V * W . Bro . the Rev . A . G . Davies , M . A ., P . M ., No . 730 , and Prov . G . Chap , of Warwickshire , as the W . M . of the Vernon Lodge , No . 819 ( formerly , we learn , the Clive Lodge , at Bromsgrove ) , took place at the Old Town Hall , on Wednesday afternoon last , when the following officials were also appointed : —Bros . G . H . Deeley , S . W . ; E . Hollier , J . W . ; Bev . E . A . Gwynne ( Prov . G . Chap , of Staffordshire ) , Chap . ; W . Timmins , Treas . ; W . Wigginton , Sec . ; G . B . Lowe , Master of the Ceremonies ; W . Finch , Org . ; Z . B . Smith , S . D . ; B . Bagley , J . D . ; W . Boper , I . G . ; and J . Jeff , Tyler . We understand the following gentlemen were present on the occasion : —Bros , the B . W . Sir E . H . Lechmere , Bart ., D . Prov . G . M ., and who , we hear , has joined the Vernon ; the B . W . R . F . Spiers , D . Prov . G . M . for Oxfordshire , Alderman ( and late Mayor of Oxford ) ; Bev . J . H . lies , Housman , and B . Maund , of Bromsgrove ; E . Dixon , Dennison ,

Steedman , Patterson , & c . The dinner was provided at the Bush Hotel , and the catering of Bro . Cartwright was highly commended , [ We have alluded to the observations of the Prov . G . M . in another part of the Magazine , and shall take an early opportunity of meeting him if the Brethren will inform us when and where he is likely to be present . ]

YOBKSHIBE ( WEST ) . Bingley . —A Provincial Grand Lodge will be held at Bingley this day . The Dep . Prov . Grand Master ( our respected Bro . Charles Lee ) , having resigned his office , has addressed the following highly-satisfactory letter to the Worshipful Masters , Past Masters , Officers , and Brethren of West Yorkshire : — My dear Brethren , —By the special grace and favour of the Bight Hon . the Earl of Mexborongh , R . W . Prov . G . M . of West Yorkshire , for upwards of nineteen years I have been permitted to hold the high and honourable office of Dep . Prov . Grand Master of this Province , and consequently during that long period to nie hath been committed the supervision of all the Lodges in the Pro-VOL . II . 4 K
