THE MASONIC MIKROK ,

¦* HE ROYAL FREEMASONS BOYS' SCHOOL . We would remind the Brethren that the Annual Festival of this excellent Masonic Charity is appointed to take place on the 12 th of March . An admirable board of Stewards has been obtained ; and , as great exertions are to he made on this occasion to increase the Building Fund , so as to enable the Committee at once

to secure suitable premises for bringing the boys together under one roof ( excepting in cases where religious objection supervene to prevent their entering the school , which , however , will not debar them from the benefits of the Charity as at present administered ) , and giving them a more uniform education than at present ^ we trust to meet a more than usually numerous gathering of the Brethren ,

THE EOYAL FREEMASONS' GIRLS' SCHOOL .

The Quarterly Court of the Governors of the Girls' School was held on the 10 th ult . at the Freemasons' Tavern , Bro . Chandler , P . G . S . D ., in the chair . It appeared , from the minutes of the proceedings of the Committee , that Bro . Harvey , the Hon . the Treasurer be authorized to sign cheques for that amount , " Bro . Barrett moved , as an amendment , " that the sum of £ 4 charged for repairs be not paid out of the General Fund , but be charged to the Building Fund . " Along discussion followed this motion in reference to the name of the fund , when it was at last agreed that it should hencefoi'th be called , in the language of the vote of the Grand Lodge , " The Fund for Upholding , Maintaining , and Improving the School Buildings , " and that for the future the interest arising from it ( at present amounting to £ 2 , 171 . Is . 5 d . ) should be applicable only to the purposes of the fund . Bro .

Barrett s motion was then agreed to . Bro . Crew announced that there were six vacancies in the school , and that the Committee had approved of ten candidates . The thanks of the Court were next passed to Bro . Harvey for his long and valuable services as Hon . Surgeon ; after which Bros . Bellinger and Bridge were elected Hon . Surgeons , and the appointment of Bro . Patten as Chairman of the Committee ratified by the Court . On the motion of Bro . Adlard , it was resolved : That the father of a candidate should , if living at the time of the child ' s

application , have been at least five years a subscribing member to a Lodge , or have been so within the five preceding years , until forced by unavoidable misfortunes to retire . " It was also resolved to ask Bro . Philip Hardwicke for a design and estimate for the alteration of the laundry , in order to remedy the inconvenience which at present exists in reference to that portion of the structure . The children approved of as candidates were then introduced , and the proceedings brought to a close by a vote of thanks to the Chairman .
