BERKSHIRE . Windsor . —Etonian Lodge ( No . 252 ) . —The very unusual occurrence of the nonconfirmation of the election , at the preceding Lodge , of the W . M . for the ensuing year , took place at the meeting of this Lodge on Tuesday , the 22 nd inst . ; it
appears that the election was not conducted in a satisfactory manner to a large majority of the members of the Lodge , who took the . only constitutional means in their power to annul the election . Under these circumstances , we trust we shall be excused giving the names of the officers , & c , engaged . Suffice it to say that the W . M . is the same Brother to whom we have so often had to allude as the betrayer of Masonic confidence in the case of the late Bro , Blake , of Oxford .
Reading . —The most noble the Marquis of Downshire , Prov . G . M . for BerKS and Bucks , and P . M . of the Reading Lodge , has given £ 200 towards the funds for building a new Masonic Hall at Reading .
CHESHIRE . Cestrian Lodge ( No . 615 ) . —St . John ' s-day ( the Evangelist ) , the annual festival was celebrated by the Brethren of the Cestrian Lodge , No . 615 , at their rooms , Royal Hotel . The Lodge was open eel for installing the new Master , Bro . Truss , which was most ably performed by the retiring W . M ., Bro . H . Lloyd . The new Master having been inducted , with the usual formalities , appointed his Officers for the ensuing year , namely : —Bros . C . Wall , S . W . ; J . D . Weaver , J . W . ; Brown , Sec . ; Jones , J . S . ; J . H . Leche , S . D . ; C . H . Dickson , J . D . ; R . M . Pigot , I . G .
The Secretary then informed the Lodge that he had received a communication from Field-Marshal the R . W . Prov . G . M ., to say that his lordship deeply regretted not being able to attend in consequence of indisposition . TheR . W . D . P . G . M . John Finchett-Maddock , Esq ., was then conducted to the throne , and warmly congratulated after his long illness . The Masonic business being concluded , the Lodge formed in procession to the banquet-room , where nearly fifty Brethren sat down . The D . Prov . G . M . occupied the chair , above which floated the banner presented by Lady Combermere ; on the right Bro . H . Lloyd , M . P . ; on the left Bro . Truss , the newly-installed Master .
CORNWALL . Truiio . —Phamix Jjodge ( No . 415 ) . —The members of this Lodge held the anniversary of the festival of St . John at their Lodge-rooms , in Truro , on Monday , January 20 th . There was a full attendance of the Brethren . After the usual business of the Lodge had been transacted , including an initiation , P . M . Bro . W . II . Jenkins was moved to the chair , and duly installed , in pursuance of the ancient forms and ceremonies of the Order , as Master for 1856 . Bros . Mayne and Trewbody Carlyon were appointed S . and J . Wardens ; Bro . Rev . W . II . A . Wrh / ht ,
Chaplain ; and Bros . Heard , Ireas ., M . itchell , Sec , and Bassett and Middleton , S . and J . Deacons . Upon the conclusion of the proceedings , the Lodge was closed , and the " Brothers of the mystic tie" mot at three in the afternoon at Bro . F . Bassott ' s , to partake of their annual banquet . The Brethren spent a delightful day , and separated , as Bro . Burns beautifully wrote and sung , in "freedom , harmony , and love . " YOL . it . , q t .
