A correspondent in Madras writes , " It is with a sad heart we attempt a verybrief and feeble , but affectionate and sincere tribute , to the memory of a Brother , James Dickson , P . M ., Lodge Pilgrims of Light ( No . 831 ) , P . Z . Mount Horeb Chapter , M . W . S . of the 33 rd Degree , and Prov . G-. Beg . of the Coromandel coast : this is the fourth P . M . the Lodge Pilgrims of Light have lost by death in a twelvemonth . A Brother who possessed such amiable and obliging qualities

as to gain the universal esteem and regard of not only the Masonic body , but also , from his straightforward , honourable , and upright conduct , the confidence of his townsmen , who testified to his worth by the unprecedented large cortege at the obsequies . At a quarter past eight on the morning of the 16 th September , Bro . Dickson was summoned from this sublunary abode to spend an eternal Sabbath , and on the same evening , at a quarter to six , was interred in St ; Mary ' s sepulchre . The Brethren , and especially the Lodge of which he was one of the
founders and an active and much valued member , spared neither trouble , time , nor expense towards the expression of its sorrow . The untimely death of Bro . Dickson , in the midst of his useful career and full vigour of life ( at thirty-five years of age ) , frustrated , unhappily , the completeness of a series of lectures he had begun to deliver on the beauties of Masonry . And who does not recollect the eager call for Bro . Dickson on all public occasions of business or festivity , and the tact and kindly attention with which he welcomed not only his personal friends , but all around him ?"

We regret to have to announce the death of this worthy Brother , the Deputy Grand Secretary of Ireland , which took place on Friday the 25 th January . Bro . Fowler , who was universally respected , has for many years filled the office , with credit to himself and satisfaction to the Order . He was in the eighty-seventh year of his age .

Died , at his residence , St . Peter-Le-Bailey , Oxford , on December 18 , 1855 , Bro . Richard Pear Blake , P . M ., Alfred Lodge , Oxford , No . 425 , & c , P . Z . Alfred Chapter , No . 425 , P . Prov . G . Treas ., Oxon , & c . & c , deeply regretted by his numerous private and Masonic friends . This distinguished Brother was initiated ,
passed , and raised at Beading , A . I ) . 1835 . Soon after this he joined the Alfred Lodge , Oxford , No . 425 , in which Lodge he served the office of W . M . in 1842 ; he was also a member of the Etonian Lodge , Windsor , No . 257 ( which Lodge has within the last year , owing to the disgust of its members at the treatment of Bro . Blake by their W . M ., been almost entirely broken up ); and of the Churchill Lodge , Nuneham , No . 702 . Bro . Blake held for many years an important and
