Patinson was of more than ordinary interest , as he had filled some of the highest offices in Masonry . The interesting ceremony was ably and impressively performed by Bro . John Barker , P . Prov . M ., and appointed the following Brethren as his Officers , addressing , on their investment , a suitable admonition to each , that he should be assiduous in the discharge of the duties of his office : — Lewis Simon , S . The recent heavy loss sustained by Bro . Davis , in the total destruction of the Lyceum Theatre by fire , called forth
many expressions of sympathy in his behalf , and lively hopes that a liberal patronage of his endeavours to please will restore his prosperity . Bro . Toshack , the ex-mayor of South Shields , was present , and most warmly greeted .
NOTTINGHAMSHIRE . Nottingham . —Commercial Lodge ( No . 594 ) . — This Lodge held its annual festival at the Flying Horse Hotel , on Monday , January 14 th , when the R . W . Prov . G . M . Colonel Thomas Wiklman honoured the Lodge with his presence . After the installation of the W . M . elect , Bro . J . C . Nixon , and the transaction of other business , the Brethren dined together . The usual loyal toasts having been given , the W . M . proposed to the 33 rethren the health of the Brov . G . M ., who had interested himself so much for the benefit of Masonry for upwards of forty years ; which having been received with great enthusiasm , the Brov . G . M . was pleased to acknowledge the kindness with which he was received by tho Brethren of his
