resolved : —That ' as a mark of respect from this Lodge , a Jewel he presented to Bro . J . Figg Wright for the great zeal evinced by him towards its benefit during the period he has fulfilled the duties of Assist . Sec . Amongst the visitors present were : Bros . Killiek , P . M ., No . 168 ; Wild , P . M ., No . 13 ; Hurst , St . John ' s Lodge ; and Holman , No . 93 . All Masonic business being ended , the Brethren partook of a most elegant banquet , provided by the well-known respected host Bro . Hart ; most excellent harmony succeeded .

St . Thomas ' s Lodge ( No . 166 ) . —At the meeting of this Lodge on January 5 , Bro . Staate was installed as W . M . by Bro . IVampton , P . M . A duly qualified candidate was initiated into the Order , and a Brother passed to the 2 nd Degree . About sixteen of the Brethren afterwards dined together , and brought the evening to a happy close . Lodge of Prudent Brethren ( No . 169 ) . — -The annual meeting of this Lodge was held at the Freemasons' Tavern , on Tuesday the 22 nd January , when Bro . Hewlett , W . M ., brought his year of office to a close by initiating Mr . Edward Hart—brother of the respected Bro . Chas . Hart—into the order . Bro . Chas .

Morbey w as then installed as W . M . by Bro . P . M . Wm . Watson , one of the oldest members of the Lodge . The W . M . invested Bro . Hewlett with the P . M . ' s collar , and Bro . J . W . Adams with that of Treas . The officers appointed

were Bros . Blackburn , S . W . ; Lea , J . W . ; Warren , Sec . —in consequence of the resignation of Bro . Kirby , P . M ., who has left London to reside at Tadcaster , in Yorkshire , from which place he came up specially to perform his duties on this occasion ; Bros . C . Hart , S . D . ; Boyd , J . D . ; Smith , I . G . ; and Carter , Dir . of G . The new W . M ., who is the first Brother initiated in the Lodge who has arrived

at that distinguished position since its resuscitation , commenced his year of office most auspiciously by initiating in a very admirable manner three candidates , Messrs . Ell wood , Landon , and Denkin , into the Order . All business being ended , the Brethren adjourned to an elegant supper , and the harmony of the evening was kept up with great spirit , aided by the singing of the Bros . Hart ( two excellent amateurs ) , Bros . Lowick , Geo . Ford , and Fielding .

Old Goncoed Lodge ( No . 201 ) . —On Tuesday , the 1 st January , a numerous meeting of the members of this Lodge took place at the Freemasons' Tavern . The business was commenced by raising Bro . Hogg to the 3 rd Degree , after which Brother Kennedy , P . M ., installed Bro . Nicholson , the Master elect , as W . M . for the ensuing year . This interesting ceremony being ended , the newly-installed W . M . proceeded to initiate his three friends , Messrs . Bladon , Swainston , and

Saunders , into the noble Order . The very able and masterly manner in which this business was performed by Bro . Nicholson was the admiration- of a numerous body of visitors , and reflects the greatest ci'edit on the "Lodge for the choice made by them in their W . M . The Officers appointed by the W . M . were Bros . Jeffries , S . W . ; Jackson , J . W . ; Rev . Bro . Laughlin , Chap . ; P . M . Kennedy , Treas . ; P . M . Emmens , Sec . : Harrison , S . D . ; Underwood , J . D . ; Bean , I . G . ; Arnell

and Norlan , Stewards . Three gentlemen were proposed for initiation on next Lodge meeting , and the business being ended , about fifty of the Brethren adjourned to partake of a very elegant banquet , after which all the usual toasts were given . Bro . Crew , P . M ., No . 1 , returned thanks on behalf of the visitors in a very appropriate and feeling manner , and spoke of the gratification himself and brother visitors had experienced in witnessing the very able and efficient manner the busineRS had been conducted by the W . M . ( Bro . Nicholson ) , so ably

supported by the P . Ms . and Officers . The health of the Be v . Bro . Laughlin , Chap , of the Lodge , having been proposed by the W . M ., and received with much enthusiasm by the Brethren , Bro . Laughlin observed , in returning thanks for the compliment paid him , that it must he ever gratifying to the feelings of a minister of religion to perceive that respect for his holy calling which was ever witnessed amongst Masons . He would not add any observations to those so eloquently made by their esteemed visitor Bro . Crew , in which he gave such valuable information as to the external workings of Masonry , in the benevolent provision it made for tho young in its Schools , and for the aged and infirm in its Asylums .
