With respect to our foreign policy , my colleagues and myself will most assiduously cultivate and strengthen our friendly relations with other Lodges , more especially with those

whose representatives have honoured us with their company this evening , which we accept as a material guarantee of their desire to reciprocate kindly feelings and to draw closer the bonds of Brotherly union . These , Brethren , are the views with which I have accepted office , and I hope they will secure for me and the members of my government your confidence and support . Permit me for myself to add , that I feel deeply grateful for your kind expressions and kind acts , and I again most sincerely thank you for the honour you have conferred upon me . " Bro . P . M . Watkins , in proposing the health of the visitors , complimented the

M . by saying , that in the public discussions of administrative reform they had heard a good deal about round men being placed in square holes ; it was , however , quite evident that they ( the Bank of England Lodge ) had got the right man in the right place . The following distinguished Brethren visited the Lodge on this occasion to mark their respect for Bro . Chance and the members ; namely , Bros . B . A . Kent , Prov . G . M . for South Australia ; B . Gibson , Dep . Prov . G . M . for Berkshire ; J . Hodekinson , P . S . G . D . ; H . Paudel , P . S . G . D . ; H . Lloyd ,

P . S . G . D . ; J . S . S . Hopwood , P . M ., No . 7 ; J . D . Freeman , of Grand Lodge of Munster ; G . B . Childs , W . M ., No . 113 ; H . Chilton , W . M . elect , No . 317 ; S . W . Lazarus , Prov , Grand Lodge , Wilts and Somerset ; W . Anderson , P . M ., No . 85 ; W . Wing , P . M ., No . 21 ; J . Broadhurst , B . M ., No . 318 ; W . P . Moore , No . 30 ; W . H . Nash , No . 42 . We missed on this occasion three old P . M . ' s—Bros . Brizzi , B . Costa , and M . Costa ; the latter , however , sent a letter expressing his regret at being unable to attend , and the kindest wishes for the prosperity of the W . M . and the members of the Lodge .

Zetland Lodge ( No . 752 ) . —This Lodge held its regular monthly meeting on the 9 th January , at the Adam and Eve Tavern , Kensington , and was presided over by the immediate P . M ., no business being before the Lodge excepting a few private matters . The Brethren adjourned to a well-spread banquet , provided in Bro . H . S . Cooper ' s usual liberal manner . Yarbobough Lodge ( No . 812 ) . —The installation of Bro . Wm . Yesper as Master of this Lodge , took place at the George Tavern , Commercial Boad , On Thursday , the 3 rd of January . On this occasion the pleasing opportunity

occurred to witness the Installation in the Master ' s chair of a Brother by his only brother , Thos . Yesper , P . M ., assisted most efficiently by the Past Masters of this and of other Lodges , forming a board of fifteen . The new Master invested and appointed his officers thus : —The Bev . Bro . D . Shaboe , M . A ., Chap ., S . W . ( Bro . Kindred , the late J . W ., having in a most handsome manner withdrawn to make room to enable the excellent Chaplain to attend Grand Lodge ) ; Bro . Crisp , J . W . ; the W . Bro . W . Wentworth Davis , P . M ., No . 112 , Treas . ; the W . Bro . Thos . "V esper , P . M ., Nos . 212 and 812 , Sec . ; Bros . Hampton , S . D . ; George Wright , J . D . ; Thomas Philpot ,

I . G . ; Austin , Org . ; Hawkins , Dir . of C . ; and Yasey and Barrett , Stewards . The Brethren , on adjourning to the banquet-room , found a most hospitable dinner prepared by Bro . It . S .
