SOUTH WALES . Carmarthen . —St . Peter ' s Lodge ( No . 699 ) . —At the last meeting of the members of this Lodge , the new W . M ., Bro . T . D . Lloyd , of Bronwydd , was announced for 1856 , nominated by our old friend Bro . Ribbans , who initiated on the occasion Dr . Wastfield , the organist of the parish church , and a Sergeant Major in the Royal Carmarthen Rifles . A list of the Officers of the Lodge will be published next month . When does Lord Milford mean to hold in this town a ^ Provincial gathering ?

Brecknock Lodge ( No . 936 ) . —At the last meeting of this new Lodge , Bro . Ribbans , the W . M ., initiated a clergyman of the Church of England , two officers of the Brecon Rifles , and two private gentlemen , assisted by his Wardens , Col . Watkins , M . P ., and Capt . Parland . A more active friend in the cause of Masonry cannot be mentioned than Bro . Bibbans , who accepted the Mastership of this Lodge entirely to further the cause of the Order in the principality . His success will best be acknowledged by the respectability of those who have been initiated by him . We heard some months ago of a testimonial in favour of Bro . Ribbans , and we know of two donations of £ 5 each towards it , and hope to chronicle not only the names of all the subscribers to it , but we ask for fullest particulars resnectinar it .

Swansea . — Masonic Testimony to a Crimean Soldier . —A Masonic banquet , numerously and respectably attended , was given at the Mackworth Arms Hotel ( Mr . Viner ' s ) , on Monday , 14 th January , to Lieut . Michael , of the 13 th Light Dragoons , on the occasion of his that evening joining the Order , and as a testimony of congratulation on his safe return to his native place , for a short period , from the seat of war , where he has so honourably distinguished himself . The solemn and impressive [ ceremony of initiation was performed by his father , Bro . F . D . Michael , for many years Prov . G . Dir . of Ceremonies for the district .

STAFFORDSHIRE . Newcastle-tjnder-Lyme . —Sutherland Lodge of Unity ( No . 674 ) . —The annual meeting of this Lodge was held at the Castle Hotel , on Thursday , the 27 th of Dec , to celebrate the festival of St . John the Evangelist , and for the installation of Bro . Dilworth , who had been unanimously chosen as W . M . for the ensuing year . The beautiful ceremony of installation was efficiently and impressively performed by the B . W . D . Prov . G . M . for Staffordshire , Bro . Ward .

After the installation , the following officers were appointed : —Bro . Hallam ( re elected ) , Tr . ; Bro . Jno . Beard more , S . W . ; Bro . Jno . Venables , J . W . ; Bro . ( B . M . ) W . Hargreaves , S . D . ; Bro . J . Berry , J . D . ; Bro . W . M . Thomas , Sec . ; Bro . 0 . Lawton , I . G . ; Bro . ( P . M . ) Cartwright , Dir . of C . ; Bros . E . Hill and McKenna , Stewards ; Bro . H . Baggaley ( re-elected ) , T . The business of the Lodge having been disposed of , the Brethren adjourned to a sumptuous

entertainment provided by Bros . Venables and Swift , in their usual style of excellence . The newly-installed W . M . presided , and was supported on his right by the B . W . D . Brov . G . M . for Staffordshire , Bro . Ward ; Bro . B . M . W . K . Harvey , No . 803 ; Bros . Hallam , Capt . Armstrong , Major Addison , & c . ; and on the left by the ex-W . M ., Bro . Thomas Mason , jun ., Mayor of the Borough ; Bro . S . M . Turner , & c . The usual loyal and Masonic toasts were proposed and honoured ; and after spending an agreeable evening , the Lodge was duly and properly closed , and the Brethren departed in peace and harmony .
