Huddebsfield . —Lodge of Truth ( No . 763 ) . —The Members of this Lodge met on Friday evening , December 7 th , at their new Hall , in Fitzwilliam-street . The Lodge was very ably and correctly opened by the W . M . Bro . Lord Goderich , M . F . for the borough . The minutes of the last regular meeting were read and confirmed ; the minutes of a Lodge of Emergency , held on Tuesday , November 20 th , for the purpose of revising the bydaws , were also confirmed . A Brother was then ballotted for as a joining Member , and unanimously elected .

The Lodge was then raised , and Bro . Marsh ( who was elected W . M . for the ensuing year by a majority of the Members , on the last regular Lodge night ) was duly installed into the chair of K . S . by B . M . ' s Hardy and Smith . The Lodge was then lowered , and the W . M . appointed the following officers : — Bros . J . Kirk , S . W <; Wilkinson , J . W . ; Baines , S . D . ; Jowett , J . D . ; Balmer and S . Hardy , Dirs . of C . ; Wood , B . G . O ., Organist ,

The new officers proceeded to initiate a candidate into the Order . The charge was given by B . M . V . Hardy , B . A ., in that impressive manner for which he is so justly celebrated , and which never fails to make a deep and lasting impression not only on the mind of the candidate , but on all present . A Brother was proposed as a joining Member , and two gentlemen were also duly proposed for initiation into our ancient fraternity .

The labours of the evening being ended , the Lodge was closed and the Brethren were called to refreshment , and between seventy and eighty sat down to supper ; after which the W . M . gave , as his first toast , " The Queen . " The Brethren all joined in the National Anthem , the solo parts being sustained by Bro . B . M . Howell , with his usual ability . The W . M . next gave , in succession , the B . W . the G . M ., the B . W . the D . G . M . and the G . L ., the B . W . P . G . M ., the V . W . D . B . G . M , and the P . G . Os . Bro . B . M . W . Smith , B . a . D . C , was requested by the other P . G . O . s present to return thanks , and during his speech he said he

thought the new W . M . had performed his duties very well , considering it was the first time he had made the attempt . Bro . P . M . Lord Gr-oderich then proposed the health of the W . M . in a complimentary speech , stating that he had no doubt but that the W . M . would follow in the steps of the Masters who had preceded him , and particularly imitate the example of P . M . T . Bobinson , who was designated by his lordship his father in Freemasonry , as it was by him he was initiated into the Craft . Several other toasts were afterwards given , and the meeting kept up till a late hour .

A circumstance that gave peculiar interest to this meeting was its being the tenth anniversary of the formation of the Lodge , which now numbers upwards of eighty members . Amongst the visitors present we noticed Brethren from Nos . 73 , 102 , 259 , 322 , 342 , 365 , and other Lodges . The excellence of the glee singing tended very materially to enhance the pleasure of the evening .
