as to gain the universal esteem and regard of not only the Masonic body , but also , from his straightforward , honourable , and upright conduct , the confidence of his townsmen , who testified to his worth by the unprecedented large cortege at the obsequies . At a quarter past eight on the morning of the 16 th September , Bro . Dickson was summoned from this sublunary abode to spend an eternal Sabbath , and on the same evening , at a quarter to six , was interred in St ; Mary ' s sepulchre . The Brethren , and especially the Lodge of which he was one of the

founders and an active and much valued member , spared neither trouble , time , nor expense towards the expression of its sorrow . The untimely death of Bro . Dickson , in the midst of his useful career and full vigour of life ( at thirty-five years of age ) , frustrated , unhappily , the completeness of a series of lectures he had begun to deliver on the beauties of Masonry . And who does not recollect the eager call for Bro . Dickson on all public occasions of business or festivity , and the tact and kindly attention with which he welcomed not only his personal friends , but all around him ?"
