OXJB ARGHITSCTURAL CHAPTER .
Bro . T . Downes ( No . 417 ) , has been appointed by the R . W . Grand Registrar , Prov . Grand Superintendent of Works for Suffolk for the ensuing year . Bro . E . E . Scott ( No . 338 ) , has been appointed Prov . Grand Superintendent of Works for Sussex . There is much for the Prov . Grand
Superintendent to do in Sussex for the large town of Brighton , with an intellectual population , besides other towns . There is much new building in Brighton , and Bro . Scott should find the Lodges something to do . Ipswich , in the province of Bro . Downes , is likewise a growing town , and there are antiquities there and at Bury which supply good archaeological illustrations ,
As we know there is a field for exertion , we like to point it out to the Grand Superintendents of Works , and so we did last week to the Prov . Grand Superintendent of Works for Worcestershire , and said " We hope he will be found zealous in the discharge of his duties , and that the Worcestershire Brethren will find work for him . "
We have since been informed that the Worcestershire Brethren have found work for him , but whether he can . do it , remains to bo seen ; for his mathematical talents have hitherto been devoted to another class of design—for we are informed by a Past Master that the worthy Brother is a tailor !
This appointment to an important office was made by the R . W ,. Henry Chas . Vernon , Prov . G . M . of Worcestershire in his Prov . Grand Lodge , and in the presence of the Prov . Grand Masters for Oxfordshire and Staffordshire , and of the Deputy Prov . Grand Master for Somersetshire . Thip extraordinary nomination will be read by the Craft in the metropolis with some astonishment , for the office of Grand Superintendent of Works has by the Grand Lodge of England been hitherto conferred
