Jerusalem Chapter ( No . 218 ) . —This Chapter held its first meeting of the season at Pick ' s Coffee House , Fleet Street / on Tuesday , the 12 th instant , Comps . Sheen , M . E ; Z . ; Comp . Breitling , P . Z .- as H . ; and Comp . Manico , P . Z ., as J . A ballot was taken for Em John Harris , Union Lodge , Nassau , Bahamas , No . 231 , Grand Lodge of Scotlahd ;^ which being unanimous in his favour , he was duly exalted to the degree of a Royal Arch Mason . The Companions then retired to an excellent banquet , supplied in Comp . QuelcrTs usual liberal style , and the evening was spent most pleasantly . Charities , '' and associating with it the name of Comp . Fa the M . E . Z . called attention to a letter receiyed from that Companion as Secretary to the Benevolent Institution for the Relief of Decayed Freemasons and their Widows , soliciting the name of a steward for the festival in The M . E . Z . made an earnest appeal on behalf of this charity , and dwelt at some length on the paramount claims it has on the support of every member of the Craft , and how , by a little
exertion , with ready hands and willing hearts , it might easily be placed , as it assuredly ought to be , in as flourishing a state as the other charities . The Companions responded by contributing a considerable sum , and Comp . Robinson kindly volunteering to i * epresent the Chapter by serving as steward at the ensuing festival ,, the subscriptions thus collected will form a goodly heading to his list on that occasion . The visitors present were , Comps . Farnfleld , P . Z ., No . 5 ; Buss , P . Z ., No . 206 ; Genese , P . Z ., No . 223 ; and Dominy , No . 199 .

'—Chapter of Amity ( No . 160 ) . —The Companions of this Chapter held their annual convocation on Friday , the 15 th instant , at the Masonic Hall , for the election of officers for the ensuing year , when the following were unanimously elected ;— -Companions John Sydenham , Z . ; George Hancock Cratch , H . ; John Osment , J . ; William Parr , E . ; Richard Hoskins , N . ; James Boyt , P . S . Several candidates were proposed , who are to be exalted at the next convocation .

The Supreme Council having granted warrants for the constituting two new Rose Croix Chapters in the immediate neighbourhood of each other—Portsmouth and Ryde , Isle of Wight— -it decided on consecrating them in ample form almost simultaneously . Accordingly seven of the members , Bros . Dr . H . B . Leeson , M . P . Sov . ; Colonel George A . Vernon , Gr . T . Vigne , J . A . D . Cox , Sir John De la Pole , Matthew Dawes , and George B . Cole , assembled in the Masonic Hall , Ryde , on Thursday , October 14 th , and after opening and consecrating the Vkctis
Chapter , installed Bro . Wm . Hyde Pullen , as M . W . Sovereign . Bro . Fallen being duly saluted and proclaimed , proceeded with the installation of the following ten Brethren into this sublime degree : — 'Thomas Willis Fleming , Prov . G . M . of the island , J . Henry Hearn , P . Prov . D . G . M . ; Donald MacLachlan , William Price , G . PL Harrington , Fletcher Moor , John T . Briant , J . P . Ollard , and Robert Read . Bro . Fallen was assisted by Bro . F . Newman , who acted as G . Marshal , and Bro . G . B . Cole as Raphael . The ceremonial was conducted by Bro .
