Quelch ' s , Dick ' s Coffee house . The W . M ., Bro . Guy , being from town , Bro . Suter , one of the Past Masters , officiated for him , assisted by Bros . Queely , P . M ., Woodstock , W . M . No . 1 , 051 , Thomas , Lake , dotterel ! , & e . Bro . Sheen , P . M . No . 233 , was proposed as a joining member , and will be balloted for
at the next meeting . Bro . Carpenter then solicited the assistance of the Lodge in an application to the Board of Benevolence for Mrs . Morgan , the relict of Bro . Morgan , a P . M ., and for many years a member of the Lodge of Industry . This brother was an excellent Mason , and carried out for many years the lessons taught him at his initiation . Bro . Carj > enter said , that having taken some trouble to sift the case , he found that it was one fully deserving the sympathy of the brethren .
Bro . Morgan ' s death took place suddenly , some few years ago , since which time the widow had struggled to maintain herself without the assistance of Freemasonry , but finding her strength declining , she was induced to avail herself of what assistance can be afforded by the Benevolent Board . Bro . Queely paid a well-merited compliment to Bro . Carpenter for his well-known philanthropy , and felt assured
he would bring no case before the Lodge which was not deserving of attention . This matter settled , the brethren then went through the first and second sections of the first lecture , which were ably worked , and afforded great pleasure to the visitors , Bros . Arthur Seared , J . Watson , Taylor , Sheen , and Hughes . The P . Mspresent were Bros . Oreilli , Suter , H . Carpenter , Dunn , and Queely . A satisfactory evening resulted and a pleasant season is anticipated .

Industry Lodge ^ No . 9 ) . —This Lodge resumed its weekly meetings on Monday , the 27 th ult ., at Dick ' s Coffee house , Fleet street , when the third ceremony was performed by Bro . T . A . Adams , W . M ., Bro . Davis being the candidate . After which the sections in the degree were worked in an able manner by the brethren , and the questions by the W : M . Before the closing of this Lodge it was proposed by Bro . Brett , and seconded by Bro . Hardy , that the votes for the Boys' School belonging to the Lodge be divided between the sons of Bros . Storey and Loiter , which was unanimously agreed to .
Confidence Lodge ( No . 288 ) . —A meeting of about thirty members of this Lodge of Instruction was held on Wednesday last , 27 th Sept ., at Bro . Watson ' s , Bengal Arms , Bircl ^ n Lane , when the ceremony of passing was abl y performed by
