United Mabinehs' Lodge ( No . 33 ) . —The first meeting of this Lodge , for the season , was held on Wednesday , October 20 th , at the Three Tuns , Borough . Bro . T . Diplock , M . D ., presided as W . M . ^ supported by Bro . Harrison , S . W . ; Bro . T . Pickering as J . W . ; Bro . Jagels , S . I ) . ; Bro . Johns , J . D .: and Bro . J , W . Dyer , I . G-. There were present Bros , Gihbs , P . M ., and Harris , P . M . Bro . Bur ridge was entrusted with the sublime degree of M . M " ., the impressive ceremony being worked in a very able manner by the W . M . Some other business of minor importance having been transacted , the Brethren adjourned to the banquet , and the evening was passed most Masonically .
Eastern Star Lodge ( No . 112 ) . —This Lodge commenced its season on Wednesday , the 13 tli instant , at the Wades Arms , Poplar , a large number of the Brethren being present . Bro . G . Allison , W . M ., took the chair at an early hour , and was supported by Bros . Vousley , S . W . ; Cuff , J . W . ; and other officers , also by P . Ms ., Bros . W . Davis , D . S . Potts , Gardner and Marrott . The minutes of the last meeting being read and confirmed , Bro . Sharp was questioned upon the apprentice degree ., which being satisfactory , he was advanced to that of Fellow Craft . It was resolved that the Lodge be removed from its present place of meeting , to the New Globe Tavern , Mile-end road ; the increasing number to the Lodge rendering further accommodation necessary . The testimonial voted at last meeting to Bro . G . F . Grimes , for bis excellent services to the Lodge generally , and more particularly
during his two years ( 1855 and 1857 ) presidency as W . M ., was then exhibited in the Lodge , and much admired for its Masonic appearance and beauty of design . The testimonial , so complimentary to the deserving and worthy Brother , consisted of a silver salver , elaborately chased , and weighed twenty-eight ounces . The Worshipful Master made somo feeling remarks on the subject , expressing his regret that their highly esteemed Brother , to whom , upon this occasion they had intended presenting this tribute of their regard , was prevented being amongst thorn on account of illness . He ( the W . M . ) trusted that Bro . Grimes ' s indisposition would be of but short duration , and that the G . A . O . T . U . would enable him to be with
thorn at their next meeting , so that the presentation could take place in due form . After this , the second tracing-board was explained to the Brethren , by Bros . Potts and Muggeridgo , W . M .., Panmure Lodge , one of the visitors , which , beside the Brother alluded to—comprised Bros . Dr . Freeman , Austin Le Sitcr , & c . St . Luofs Lodge ( No . 168 ) . —Tho installation meeting of thia Lodge was held on the 4 th of October , when tho ceremony was ably performed by Bro , Collard ,
