This being the day for the election of the R . W . M . and officers for i ) he ensuing year , the Lodge unanimously elected Bro . J . P . Piatt to fill the chair ; Bro . Moss was re-elected Treasurer ; and Bro . Smith , Tyler . Bro . Piatt was then presented , and having taken the chair , proceeded to appoint and invest his
officers / which are as follows : —Bros . C . N . Marshall , S . W . ; H . Bulley , J . W . ; Wilson , M . O . ; T . Piatt , S . O . ; Morison , J . O . ; fiayward , Sec . ; Clark , Conductor ; and Anderson , Keg . Upon the conclusion of Masonic business , the Brethren sat down to refreshment , and after spending a pleasant evening , separated at an early hour . The prosperity of this Lodge is apparent from the fect , ^ more than twelve months have elapsed since they received their warrant ) they have advanced thirty-sixBrethren to this beautiful degree .
GLOUCESTERSHIRE . OPENING OF A . NEW LODGE . Cheltenham . —Keystone Lodge ( No . 13 , under the Grand Chapter of Scotland ) . — The warrant of constitution for this Lodge having arrived , and suitable preparations effected , it was determined by the Brethren to whom the charter had been granted , to hold their first meeting on Monday , the 4 th inst . ; and accordingly on the day mentioned , at 5 p . m ., the Brethren assembled in the Masonic Hall , for the purpose referred to .
The proceedings commenced by reading the warrant from the Supreme Grand Chapter of Scotland , appointing Bro . J . Brooke Smith , P . M ., No . 307 , and member of the Thistle Mark Lodge , No . 3 , R . W . Master , and associating the names of Bros . Alexander Shirer , No . | 3 ; and Wallace , No . 7 , respectively Senior and Junior Wardens for the ensuing year . The R . W . M . then claimed the assistance of the Brethren in the first duty
devolving on him , viz ., the dedication and consecration of that building to the service of T . G . A . O . T . U ., and the ceremonies of Mark Masonry ; whereupon , amid the solemn peals of the organ , the Brethren encircled the hall three times , during which the R . W . M . used in succession corn , wine , and oil , as illustrative of those gracious bounties dispensed by Him unto whom be the glory everlasting ! The R . W . M . having offered up the invocation prayer , assumed for the first time the chair of the Lodge , which he declared to be opened in due form .
The following Brethren were then inducted to their several offices : —Bros . Wait , as M . O . ; Power , as S . O . ; Bain , as J . O . Visitors present , Bros . W . Harris , R . W . M . ; No . 7 ; G . C . Harris , J . W ., No . 7 ; J . J . Evans , Treas ., No . 7 ; W . H . Bowden , Sec , No . 7 ; Gardner , Ware , Scott , Martin ., Brettell , Drewe , of No . 7 , & c ., & c . The firkt business announced was the affiliation of Bro . Colonel Brandon , a
Bon Accord Mark Mason , who being then introduced , and the usual forms complied with , was received with much satisfaction as a member of the new Lodge . The by-laws of the Lodge were then read and unanimously approved ; after which ballot was taken for a large number of Brethren , who were declared duly accepted , and ten of them being in attendance , were afterwards advanced to the degree of a Mark Master Mason , viz ., Bros . Williams , W . M ., No . 307 ; Jessop , W . M ., No . 97 ; Hale , J . W ., No . 307 ; Tovey , S . D ., No ,. 307 ; Ingram , Jack , Trimmer , Tasker , Vaughan , Hodge ( all of No . 307 . )
The ceremony being concluded , the R . W . M . congratulated the Brethren on the accomplishment of their hopes , by the establishment of Mark Masonry in their vicinity , and took occasion in complimentary terms to refer to the assistance which he said they had experienced in the formation of the Lodge , from Bro . Harris , K . W . M . of the Oanynges Lodge , No . 7 , whom , with many of his officers
and brethren , he was happy to see amongst them that evening . It was *) therefore , with much pleasure that he proposed Bro . Harris as an honorary member of the Keystone Lodge .
