W . ) pro . tern ., was then called upon to resign his collar , with which the W » M . invested Bro . Wilton as J . W . ( consequent on the decease of Bro . Hanham ) , and appointed Bro . itoutrie , Secretary . Bros . Phipps , Mateham , and Woolley , having
passed a satisfactory exarnination as to their proficiency , were duly passed to the degree of E . G ., * the ceremony being most impressively performed by the W . M . The Lodge was then closed down to the first degree , when a ballot took place for Mr . W . T . Ardouin , Lieut . 11 th Bombay N . L , which proving unanimous ^ that gentleman was duly initiated into the mysteries of the Craft . After the dispatch of some other business , the Lodge was closed in perfect harmony , shortly after 10 o ' clock .

Wolverhampton .--St , Peter ' s lodge ,, ( No . 607 ) . —At a meeting held on the 7 th instant , Bvo , Pigott was raised to the third degree . The W . M , asked Bro . Gough W . M . 769 , [ if he would have the kindness to perform the ceremony , which lie did in a correct and impressive manner . He also delivered the charge , and explained tho tracing board of this degree . The Lodge having been lowered to the first degree ,
the W . M , proceeded to initiate a gentleman into the mysteries of Masonry . This heing the first initiation the W-M . Bro , King had undertaken , the Brethren were agreeably surprised at the admirable manner in which he conducted it throughout . Bro . Q ough them delivered the charge opt initiation . A gentleman was balloted for , and unanimously elected as a candidate for initiation at the next meeting
