At the approaching election of children into the Boys' School , there are eighteen candidates , of whom eleven are to be received .

We are happy in being enabled to announce that , at the election in May next , for Annuitants on the funds of the Royal Benevolent Institution , it has been resolved to elect ten Brethren and eight widows , by which many an aching heart will be soothed , and the number of candidates for the benefits of the Institution
considerably reduced . We inadvertently omitted to state in our report of the last meeting of Grand Lodge that Bro . Wood , P . M . of No . 76 , and of the Royal York Lodge , Brighton , wished to move , as an addition to the recommendation of the Board of General Purposes with regard to the charity jewel , the following resolution , but was held
to be too late in bringing it forward . He will therefore move it as a substantive resolution at the next quarterly communication : —" That every Brother who may become a Yice-President of either of the Masonic charities shall also be permitted to wear a distinguishing mark or clasp on the ribbon , specifying the charity of which he is a Yice-President . "
Charters have recently been granted for three new Lodges—viz . the British ( No . 1 , 038 ) , to be held at Port Louis , Mauritius ; the Wentworth ( No . 1 , 039 ) , Hind Hotel , Wellingborough ; and the Port Natal ( No . 1 , 040 ) , D'Urban , Port Natal .

The anniversary festival of this institution was held at the Freemasons Tavern , on Wednesday , March 10 , theM . W . G . M ., the Right Hon . the Earl of Zetland , presiding , supported by Bros . Feu wick , M . P ,, J . G . W . ; Cabbell , Prov . G . M . for
Norfolk , the treasurer of the institution ; C . P . Cooper , Prov . G . M . for Kent ; Dundas , M . P ., P . G . W . ; Gray Clarke , G . Sec . ; Parkinson , P . G . W . ; Dr . Bowe , P-G . D . ; Evans , P . G . D . ; Hervey , P . G . D . ; Le Yeau , P . G-S . B . ; Jennings , G . Dir . of Cers . ; Farnfleld , Asst . G . Sec . ; Pulteney Scott , Crew , Wyndham , Portal , and about 220 of the Brethren . 4-t the conclusion of the dinner , which was admirably served , the M . W . G .
