Wolverhampton . —St . Peter ' s Chapter ( No . 607 ) . — -A convocation of this Chapter was held on Tuesday , March 16 . The minutes of the last convocation having been read and confirmed , the M . E . Z . said the first business of the evening would be ballot for the companions who were proposed at the last meeting—viz ., M . E . Comp . H . C . Vernon , G . Supt . for Worcestershire , to rejoin , and Comp . Shuttleworth as honorary member . Both were unanimously elected . The M . E . Z . then called the attention of the Companions to the notice on the circular that they were this day to elect the officers of the Chapter for the ensuing year . The ballot
having been taken , the M . E . Z . declared the following companions to be unanimously elected : —H . Lewis , Z . ; G-. Hudson , II . ; the Rev . E . H . A . Gwynne , J . ; J . W . Harris , P . Z ., Treas . ; J . P . Warner , P . Z ., as E . ; Richard Hudson , N . ; Pendleton , P . S . ; Jones , Janitor . The M . E . Z . congratulated the companions on the happy selection they had made , every companion elected had been in office before , and had ably fulfilled every duty which had devolved upon him , and he did not doubt but that every one would be equally well up to their work in the respective offices they would occupy during the ensuing year .

METROPOLITAN ENCAMPMENT . Mount Calvary Encampment . —The Sir Knights of the above Encampment , with their E . C ., Sir Knt . Boyd , held an Encampment , on the 2 oth of March , at the Ship and Turtle , Leadenhall-street , for the purpose of exalting Comp . John Mott Thearle , and Comp . Thomas Bazett Knipe , of St . Helena , to the dignity of Masonic Knights Templar , and Knights of Malta , which the warrant of this ancient Encampment empowers its E , C . to confer , as also , we understand , the degrees of Knight of St . John of Jerusalem , Rhodes , and Palestine . The ceremony was performed with much dignity and ability by the E . C ., ably
assisted by Sir Knts . Purday , Lemanski , and Watkins . A very elegant banquet succeeded the ceremonies ; and when the cloth was cleared , the customary toasts were eloquently given by the E . C ., and responded to by the several Sir Knts . interested therein . Sir Knt . Knipe , in reply to the toast of " The newly installed Knights , " made a most able speech , and gave some curious anecdotes respecting the habits of the Emperor Napoleon I . while at St . Helena . After passing a very pleasant evening the Brethren separated , to meet again in June .
PROVINCIAL ENCAMPMENT . Blackburn . —Hugh de Payens Encampment . —The quarterly meeting of thia Encampment was held on Friday , March 26 , at the Old Bull Hotel , Blackburn , the E . G . Sir Knt . William Harrison presiding , assisted by Sir Knts . Houlker and Radcliffe as Eirst and Second Captains . There was a fair muster of the Sir Knts . of the Encampment ; and the visitors included Sir Knts . Redick and Dawson , of the St . James of Jerusalem Encampment , Bolton . The usual formal business having been concluded , Sir Knt . Redick most ably officiated as E . C ., and installed Comp . John Bell a Knight of the Order , assisted by Sir Knt . Dawson as Expert , the E . G . subsequently appointing Sir Knt . Bell , Second Standard Bearer .
A new code of by daws was read and discussed , and ordered to be read again , and finally decided upon in June . The E . C . closed the Encampment at nine o ' clock , and the Praters afterwards spent a most agreeable evening .
