Jeeusalm Chapter ( No . 218 ) . —This Chapter held a convocation on Tuesday , March 9 , at Dick ' s Coffee-house , Fleet-street , Comp . Sheen , M . E . Z ., presiding . The election of principals and other officers for the ensuing years was proceeded with , and resulted as follows :-r-Comps . Sheen ( who was re-elected ) , Z . ; McCulloch , H . ; Burton , J . ; Patten , P . Z ., Treas . ) Manico , P . Z ., Scribe E . ; Shepherd , Scribe N . ; . and Watts , P . S . One brother was proposed for exaltation , and a companion for joining ; after which the companions retired to a well-spread banquet , provided in Comp . Quelch ' s admirable style . The only visitor present was Comp . Beuler , No . 593 .
METROPOLITAN CHAPTER
PROVINCIAL CHAPTERS . Ipswich , Suffolk . —Royal Sussex Chapter ( No . 522 ) . —This Chapter , attached to the Perfect Friendship Lodge , held its usual quarterly convocation last week , at the White Horse Hotel , —Comps . E . Dorling , Z . ; the Rev . W . H . Freeman , H . ; and Jennings , J . Comp . Fuller was elected and duly exalted to the Sublime Degree . Too much praise cannot be given to Comps . the Rev . W . H . Freeman and Spencer Freeman , who , with the candidate for exaltation , came upwards of
twelve miles through , cross country roads ( although the snow was deep and the tc wintry winds were whistling" ) to meet their companions . Comp . Dorling , as Z ., presided at the banquet , and displayed as usual his wonted kindness and affability to all the companions present . We regret to notice the continued absence of Comp . W . Townsend , P . Z ., who some months ago met with an accident whilst attending to his Masonic duties at Hadleigh ; we sincerely trust that we may again soon see him amongst us .
Newcastlb-on-Tyne . — Chapter De Swinburne ( No . 24 . )—This Chapter held its regular meeting on Wednesday , the 10 th of March , being presided over by Comp . B . J . Thompson , M . E . Z . ; Comps . E . D . Davis ( P . Z . ) , as H . ; R . B . Ridley ( P . Z . ) , as J . ; and other officers . Two Brethren of Lodge No . 793—viz . Bros . C . 0 . McAllum . and Carr—being in attendance , were duly exalted to this
Sublime Degree by the First Principal . Among the Past Principals present were Comps , Wm , Johnston , P . Z ., and John Barker , Prov . G . S . E ., and several other Companions ; among the visitors , Comp . Clapham , E . No . 614 . In this Chapter the banquet precedes the work , and the Chapter opens with punctuality at seven o ' clock . The same practice prevails in the Northumberland Lodge j and it is found to work well , as there is no excuse for remaining late out .
