the working . It was now upwards of thirty years since he first visited the Grand Steward ' s Lodge , and he could truly say that , if they had diminished in numbers they had by no means deteriorated in the accuracy of their working . Indeed , he believed he might fairly say that they were better workmen now than then ; and he did not believe there was ever a period when the Grand Steward ' s Lodge could boast of better working Masons than it at present possessed . The Lodge was then closed and the Brethren separated .

After transacting the ordinary business of the Lodge the Brethren adjourned to banquet , and spent a most agreeable evening . Bro . Cooper , after complimenting the Lodge of Regularity for its uniform support of the charities , took occasion to remark that at the late festival in aid of the funds of the Boys' School , the
subscription list showed an average of more than five pounds for each individual present , and that the subscribers were chiefly private Masons . In Kent he had been very successful in establishing a plan by which every Lodge in his province would soon be entitled to the privileges of a governorship of each of the three charities so long as the Lodge should exist . Some time ago he had drawn attention to this subject in the Freemasons' Magazine , and he felt assured that the plan needed only to be generally known to render its adoption almost universal ; and if such could happily be effected the wealth of the charities would be almost boundless .
