WEXFORD . Bro . J . Strain , the Secretary of Lodge No . 935 , writes as follows : ¦—" The worthy Brother and Companion whose name is mentioned in the local journal which I take the liberty of transmitting by this post to your address , has lately left our town to reside at Grays , in Essex , where he is now successfully pursuing his professional duties . I write at the instance of Lodge No . 935 , to express our extreme regret at the removal from amongst us of so enlightened and zealous a Mason as Doctor Nunn , and our earnest hope for his future happiness in the locality where the G . A . O . T . U . has ordered his residence . "
The following is the paragraph alluded to above : — "The friends of Doctor Nunn , and they are many , will be gratified to learn that the Brethren of Masonic Lodge , No . 935 , Wexford , being determined to mark their appreciation of his eminently social qualities and zeal for the welfare of the Craft , have procured for presentation to him , on his removal to England , a tea and coffee service of plate . We this day have had the pleasure of inspecting the different articles at the mart
of our enterprising townsman , Mr . B . Shaw , through whom they have been obtained , and we can truly say they reflect credit on the taste and judgment of the parties concerned . Each article is crested , and bears the following inscription , viz : — 'The gift of Masonic Lodge , No . 935 , Wexford , to BrotherH . M . Nunn , Secretary for several years , 1853 /"—— Wexford Independent .

The whole aspect of Parliament and of politics shows the rapid approach of Easter , until after which we cannot expect any real business to be accomplished . The proceedings in Parliament may be thus shortly summed up . The Foreign Minister has been able not only to announce that the misunderstanding with France has been removed , but to lay on the table the correspondence , which closes with the dismissal of the whole business by the Emperor of the French , who will make no further demand , but leaves the refugee-conspirator question to the good feeling of England . The Indian minister has announced that the final blow
was ready , and that he believed that before the present month expires Lucknow will have been crushed under the irresistible fire of Sir Colin ' s artillery . The Chancellor of the Exchequer has stated that the Cagliari question shall receive new consideration . Another minister has promised that the recompense which has been given to the soldiers who conquered Delhi , and behaved so forbearingly and well in the hour of conquest , shall be considered , with a view to something more worthy of the deed being allotted to them . The bill for admitting the Jews into Parliament has been read a second time , it being arranged to take the
discussion on the motion for going into committee . The news from India only speaks of the preparations for the attack of Lucknow , and announces that the King of Delhi has been tried and sentenced to transportation for life—no lengthened period we may suppose , as he is 84 years of age , and transportation is looked upon as the greatest of degradations by Eastern potentates . His Hoyal Highness the Prince Consort and the Prince of Wales have walked over the handsome new bridge at Chelsea , and it will shortly be thrown open to the
public , it is to be hoped toll free . The designs for a memorial of the Great Exhibition of 1851 are now on view at the Kensington Museum , where there is that charming collection of pictures , the Sheepshanks collection , open to all comers . The committee for the memorial have selected the design of Mr . Durham . A . most interesting meeting was held in Drury-lane Theatre on Friday , the Duke of Cambridge presiding , for the purpose of making arrangements for a monument to General llavelock , which we trust will be worthy of tho man and the nation .
