The Lodge was then closed in due form , and the Brethren retired to the banqueting-room . The usual loyal and Masonic toasts were given and responded to . including " The Visitors , " Bros . De Vries ( St . George ' s , Nova Scotia ) , G-. F .
Taylor , No . 778 , and Scott , Nos . 9 and 30 , tho last of whom acknowledged the toast . "The W . M . ' s Health" was proposed in brief but eloquent terms by Bro . Potter , the oldest P . M . of the Lodge , who . ' dilated at some length upon the various changes which had occurred within his recollection . Formerly this Lodge could only boast of the primitive number of three members , now they numbered thirty-three good men and true ; the St . Andrew ' s Lodge was at the present time in good working order , and would doubtless continue its career of prosperity . The W . M . feelingly acknowledged the compliment paid him by the Brethren , and assured them of his intention to do all in his power during his year of office , to advance the interests of the Lodge * The next toast was that of '"The P . Ms ., the Master making individual complimentary allusions to those Brethren , commencing with Bro . Potter , who ^ as their excellent Steward , whilst he properly studied economy , endeavourect to promote the comfort of the Brethren ; next was Bro , West , the
indefatigable Secretary , who could scarcely be sufficiently thanked for his services to the Lodge . Bro . Sartourg , their Treasurer , well deserved the notice of the Lodge , as also did their highly talented Bro . Mills , whose Masonic intelligence was the admiration of the Craft , and who was ever ready and willing to give instruction to those desirous of profiting by it . The toast being well received , the Brethren alluded to returned thanks ; and soon after the party broke up , highly delighted with , the evening ' s entertainment .
Canonbuky Lodge ( No . 955 ) . —On Tuesday , March 2 nd , the members of this Lodge assembled , by " emergency , " for the purpose of clearing off some business in arrear . Bro . A . S . Berry was passed to the degree of a P . O ., and Bros . J . Lay ton and Higgins raised to the sublime degree of M . M ., the ceremonies being performed by the newly installed W . M ., assisted by his officers , all of whom were
present , and performed their respective portions of the evening ' s routine . It augurs well for Masonic feeling and intelligence , that the Officers of this Lodge are always to be found in attendance at their W . M . ' s behest , be it regular Lodge meeting or emergency , and we are pleased to record that the solemn rites were witnessed by a majority of the members . Bro . B . Gurton ' s , the Bed Horse , Old Bond-street , Piccadilly , for the purpose of working the fifteen Sections . There was a good muster of members , there being over forty present . The fraternity may form some idea of the admirable manner in which the Lectures were rendered by glancing at the names of the Brethren who took part in the proceedings . Bro . Collard , P . M . W . M . of No . 168 , was W . M ., who gave the introductory addresses in his usual first-rate style ; Bro . Gladwin , as S . W . ; Bro . Caulcher , J . W . ; and supported by several good working Masons , among whom we noticed Bros . I . Levin son , P . M . No . 7 ; Harrison , P . M . No . 202 ; Queely , P . M . No . 219 ; Stuart , and W . II . Roberts , No . 211 ; Panchand , No . 778 ; and H . Levinson . The Lodge was opened at six o ' clock in due form , when the Sections were ably worked Ivy
