PROVINCIAL GRAND LODGE . We last week gave a brief notice of this Masonic reunion , and we now , in accordance with our promise , proceed to noticeit in greater detail . The Prov . Grand Lodge met , as we have stated , at the Town Hall , and was opened , in strict accordance with the constitutions , as an independent body , and not within one of the regular Lodges / though meeting in connection with that excellent Lodge the Belvidere , to the Brethren of which the Craft of the Province are under deep obligations for the exertions made for their comfort .
The Prov . Grand Officers having been appointed , the Brethren attended divine service in All Saints ' Church , where a sermon was preached by the He v . Bro . Batch el or , Prov . G . Chaplain , the principal portion of which we have printed in another part of the Magazine . Prior to the sermon , the following hymn , composed for the occasion by Bro . W . B . Tolputt ( the words by Mrs . W . Bateman )
was sung : — " Dread Ruler of the teeming universe , Who from the first thy temple dost uphold In harmony divine , earth ' s clouds disperse , That we thy perfect glory may behold !
" Bright eastern Star , who through Egyptian night Didst lead the feet of wisdom to thy shrine , Guide thou our steps with thine effulgent light , In paths of love and brotherhood divine . " Thou holy Dove , who brooding o ' er the deep Didst death and chaos with quick life inspire , Breathe thou on us , wake us from deadly sleep , And kindle in our breasts celestial fire .
" Majestic triune King , we laud thy might , Before thy throne we kneel in reverent awe , Teach us to read thy truth and love aright , Within the volume of thy sacred law / '
