Prov . G . M ., Bro . Thomas Abel Ward , painted by Philip Wescott , Esq ., at the cost of the members of the Lodge . The picture was acknowledged hy all to be a most truthful representation of Bro . W & rd . It is of life size , and is a most excellent addition to the handsome hall
pf the Freemasons ... of Watford , and forms the third of a series of portraits of the eminent Masons at Hertfordshire which will from time to time permanently decorate its walls . So pleased was the artist with his subject and the satisfaction expressed fey the committee , that he decided on becoming a member of the Fraternity , and at once offered himself for initiation . The R . W . the Prov . G , M . is the present Master of JSTo . 5 & 0 ;; hut the recent death of Lord IKanfurly , his nephew , preventing his attendance , Bro . Francis presided ; and , after a ballot ,
the following four gentlemen were initiated : —Dr . Alfred Thomas Brett , Mr . Philip Westcott , the artist , Mr . Henry Gilham Martin , and Mr . George Annesley .
