George . The Brethren , dressed in full regalia , met at half-past ten , a . m ., at the house of the W . M . Bro . Daniel Pretts ^ M . D ., and formed a procession , with the visiting Brethren , to escort their W . M . to the Lodge , which was duly opened in the first Degree , and
three candidates , Messrs . D . Cardozo , junr ., Solomon Pereira , and Miguel Y . Crespq \ were initiated into the mysteries of Masonry by the W . M . and Bro . A . E . Pretts in English , and by Bro ; G . A . Feron , the Orator , in French , they having requested permission from the chair so to do . The one candidate being a partner of the commercial firm of Pereira , Pretts , and Co ., Bro . A . E , Pretts desired to initiate him ; the other , Mr . Miguel T . Crespo , had been a
schoolfellow and a brother collegian of the Grator , Bro . G . A . Feron . Both performed their task in an admirable and masterly style , thereby giving proofs of being able one day to occupy the Master ' s chair . M . of the several Lodges in Calcutta , for 1858 , have not" presented many features calling for remark . The Y . W . Bror HofF , Prov . Grand Sec , is the only Warden who offered himself for the E . G ., and was unanimously elected ; the Brethren who were eligible not having offered themselves out of compliment to his distinguished position in the Craft . On the night of the
installation , the D . Prov . G . M ., as a P . M . of Lodge Humility with Fortitude , conducted the ceremony , and enjoyed the rare felicity of inducting his son , in the presence of many Masters and Past Masters , into the chair which he had himself repeatedly filled to the satisfaction of the members in times gone by . In retiring from the chair which he had twice occupied , for two years each time , the R . W . Bro . Clark requested the Lodge to accept of a Bible , as a mark of his appreciation of the kindness he had met with . The YW . Bro . Hoff addressed the Lodge on some points connected with the Order .
Lodges Star in the East and Courage with Himtctnity respectively elected R . W . Bro . LeGeyt and W . Bro . Price , The W . M . of the former having served for two years ( let us add with great credit to himself and benefit to his Lodge and the Craft in Calcutta ) , could not be re-elected without a dispensation . The W . M . of the latter pleaded the pressure of his avocations as disabling him from complying with the wishes of the Brethren to allow himself to be re-elected . The contest
