Freemasonry embraces . The E . W . D . Gr . M ., in reply to our observations with regard to the non-existence of three Lodges in Lauiiceston at the time of the recommendation of Bro . Ewing for Prov , G-. M ., stated that two of them , though not in possession of theii warrants , were working at the time under dispensation , and therefore entitled to the same privileges as regularly chartered Lodges ,
Admitting it to be so , we still maintain that the third Lodge has all the appearance of having been created—for we have indisputable evidence that it had not been in existence , even under dispensation , six months at the time alluded to—merely for the purpose of giving a preponderance to the Craft in Launceston which should secure the
appointment of Prov . G-. M . to one of the members of that portion of Tasmania ; whilst Bro . Toby is condemned for having attempted to do something similar in Hobart Town , not having , however , first started his Lodges under dispensation . With regard to Bro . Ewing having served the office of Master in his Lodge " for five consecutive years /' the D . G . M . admitted he was in error—he should have said " at
