METROPOLITAN CHARTERS .. Chapter of Peude ^ ge ( No . 12 ) . —This excellent Chapter held a convocation on Monday the 15 th . nit ,, Comp . Potts , who was present as a visitor , being solicited to preside as 1 st Principal , and instal the Z . elect . The Chapter being formed , and declared open , the minutesof last meeting were read and confirmed ; upon which Gomp . Jarnes Archbell w as M . E . Z . iri excellent style . Comps . Stuart and Munie were then installed as H , and J .
—this portion of the ceremony being well performed b ^ Comp . Blackburn > of the Robett Burns Chapter ( No > 25 ) , who was admitted a joining member , and appointed S > E . Comp ; Browse was invested as Treas . ; Comps . Cox , N \ ; Stokes ^ P . S . ; aiid Michael and Turner as 1 st and 2 nd Assistants . All the appointments being satisfactorily made , the M . E . Zv called , the attention of the Chapter to a matter of consideraiole interest to them all , —the presentation of a P . Z . ' s jewel to their '' l ^ te '^ Mi-EvZi ^' . ' Opmp .- Cooper , to dilate npon ; whose merits would fag to
him a difficulty ^ inasmuch as he ( Comp . Archbell ) felt that he had not words at his command to do justice to this subject . However , the difficulty was in some manner removed , as he addressed those to whom his predecessor was too well known to require any eulogiuni from him * The kindness of Comp . Cooper was proverbial , and well known to every member of the Chapter—that , coupled with the ability he had displayed while officiating as their M . E . Z ; , showed him well worthy their regard and esteem . The investiture with the jewel ( which was a
very handsome one ) then took place , the inscription being as follows . — " Presented to Companion 3 " . Cooper , by the Companions of the Chapter of Prudence , in testimony of his urbane and efficient service as First Principal during the years 1856 and 1857 . " Comp . Cooper in feeling terms acknowleged the compliment , and assured the Companions that he would still continue to exert himself for the advancement of Ereemasony in general , and for this Chapter in particular . Cyrus Chapter ( No . 21 ) . —This Chapter held its last convocation for the season on Tuesday , the 25 th . instant , at the London Coffee House , Ludgate Hill . There were present : —Comps . King , M . E . Z . ; Eurrell , H . ; F . J . Marillier , ( P . Z . ) , as J . ; Barringer , Bainbridge , and T . R . White , P . Zs . ; John Watson , P . S . ; Lambert , N . ; and we observed the following visitors , viz ., Comps . Symonds , G . Standard Bearer , Mark J . Thompson , and Spratt , all of Chapter . No . 7- After the Chapter was closed , the Companions adjourned , at six o ' clock , to an excellent banquet j and the visitors expressed themselves delighted with the reception they had met with .
PROVINCIAL CHAPTER . Oniim / rsEY . —St . George ' s Chapter ( No . 486 ) . —A convocation of this Chapter-was held at the Crown Hotel , on Friday , the 28 th of May , Dr . G . Harcourt , M . E . Z ., ( D . Prov . G . M . for Surrey ) , presiding . The M . E . Z . having been re-elected , duly installed Comp . J . Merryweather as H ., and Comp . Wm . Blenkin as J . The following Comps . were also invested with the badges of their respective offices : —Bidwell , E . ; E . T . Parsons , N . ; Greenwood , P . S . ; and F . Johnson , Janitor . Bros . ^ Moore and Palmer , of Lodge No . 486 , were duly exalted , and the Chapter closed in perfect harmony . The Companions then adjourned to an excellent banquet ; and passed a very pleasant evening ; Comp . Head , P . Z ., No . 5 , returning thanks for the visitors ! O X A
