Another phase of utility is exemplified by the constant watchfulness evinced by the board for the interest of the Craft , in preventing any
innovation or encroachment on its privileges ; a case having occurred lately illustrating this fact , wherein a Brother named Melville , who had been in England some years since , and after vainly endeavouring to enlist the sympathies and assistance ofthe colonial Past Masters , had striven to induce many of theBrethren to aid him in forming a new Lodge , to be called " The Royal Architects , " the advantages of which , it was said , would completely eclipse the science as at present understood . At a recent meeting of Lodge No . 814 , the D . Prov . G . M . and
Bro . Aaron , the chairman of this board , being present , our worthy Brother , Rev . J . Woolley , brought the matter forward for the purpose of eliciting a final and decisive opinion oh the subject ; when the R . W . Bro . Williams declared the actions of this Bro . Melville to be antagonistic to the true principles of the Graft ; and Bro . Aaron , in confirming what had fallen from the D . Prov . G . M ,, cautioned the Brethren against being led to implicate themselves . This Bro . Melville , it is understood , is now either gone or going to some other colony , in order to obtain patronage under some other constitution .
